Mother's Day was a mixed bag of success for me. I was able to spend time with my mother and youngest daughter, as well as two newly pregnant nieces. My food was clean and on plan until after our special lunch. I had lobster for the first time since VSG. I used to LOVE it. It wasn't sitting well almost immediately, so I stopped eating it after a couple of bites and ate most of my creamed corn casserole. I ate about a third of a piece of caramel cheesecake, and then felt the sickest I've felt since surgery. I did end up getting sick. Three hours later, making my two hour drive, my stomach was sore and empty. Why do I want crackers when that happens ? Rather than drinking water or tea to rehydrate, I ate pretzel chips I purchased at a rest area, during my trip home.  Today, I'm dehydrated, puffy and feeling like I wa**** by a truck. 129.4.

I learned, even a year out, not to try something for the first time, while traveling. I need to capture and be able to recall the difference between how carbs and sugar tastes in the moment versus how it makes my body feel shortly thereafter.

Goal for today, clean eating and no foods in non-fuel category in MFP log. Way too much there yesterday !!

123.8. Like Diane, I had a good eating day until the dessert round. We bought my favorite white cake with buttercream frosting and ya know what? I don't think it is my favorite anymore. I had to scrape a good deal of the frosting off because it was just way too sweet for me. I will eat another piece today but will pick a middle piece without much frosting instead of a coveted corner piece! No exercise yesterday, but I think I got in over 7,000 steps just at work. Band concert tonight! Will try and get a walk in at lunch.

Morning everyone.

thankyou Kairk.

sorry, Ocean for the lobster sick-making.

Our group had car troubles and have a houseful of family that couldn't make it home.  They will take it to a garage today.

Food was ok, steps not great in spite of kitchen treks back and forth and would have thought that digging up 1/3 of the garden would have helped.  But no.    Too bad we can't eat buttercups because I could feed an army.

happy Monday..  A brand new week.

Hello Kiddos!

Weight is the same for which I am grateful.

Mary, I have been thinking a lot about you because my current young adult genre audiobook is set in coastal Maine.  It is the town of Henley tho I don't know if it is a real town.  It is bringing back memories of last year's summer vacation and how terrific Maine is.

Have a terrific day, all!

Shel

Morning all. 113 for me after another unplanned food day. Boy I feel like I'm getting by on the skin of my teeth. Not to suggest that maintenance needs to look like dieting, but structure and order are still required!

good trip south yesterday, and for the most part the in laws' craziness didn't get to me.  But boy I do mean it when I say crazy, and it amazes me how hard people will work to remain unwell and unhappy. Fortunately I was able to just observe with little reaction.

Mickey performed well and is turning into a very nice vehicle, despite his rough start with his new family. Bringing Violet in for some much needed maintenance work today and my house looks like a bomb exploded here. Much work required.

Oh yuck Diane O. I think we must be programmed to seek crackers when we our stomachs are upset. An old tape for sure. Onward

Happy Monday Everyone!

I successfully navigated Mother's Day mostly on plan.  We went to the movies and I took a protein bar with me to save me from the popcorn, and that helped.

Afterwards we did Thai takeout and I tasted some protein forward dishes and skipped the rice.  The only challenge in that situation is trying to log stuff when you aren't totally sure what's in it - so I skipped that part and so my MFP log is all off.  Anyone have suggestions for that?

Planning on cooking this week, so it will be easier to stay on top of exactly what I'm eating.  My recent downfall (weight upswing?) can be mostly attributed to a combination of auto-pilot and not cooking at home.

Down 1.1 this morning.

Jen

For MFP and restaurant foods.....I just type in Thai chicken cashew (or whatever.)  If there are lots of choices, I try to choose one that looked like it was a restaurant (rather than homemade) mealt,  estimate quantity, log it, and then move on.  I don't pretend it is terribly accurate.  But, in reality, it is ALL an estimate to some extent.  To me it is more important to have something logged to complete the day even if the calories/macronutrients are off.
