WOW!...Officially on the OTHER SIDE!
Feb 01, 2010
Well my surgery is over! Thank goodness. My worries are now gone. As soon as I woke up in recovery I knew that I was okay, in a lot of intital pain, but ALIVE! I stopped taking pain meds the day after surgery. I wouldn't say that I am in pain, but rather very sore-kinda like I did alot of ab crunches, but then again, I don't really know what that feels like (lol) YET.Thank you so much for your prayers during my recovery. It has been a smooth journey with the exception of my son getting sick and not sleeping. I have already lost 9 pounds in the last 6 days. Pretty great. Not eating anything that requires chewing yet-just liquids.
Yesterday I had fixed a bowl of cream of celery soup with chicken broth and I told my mother in law it was the best few bites of chicken and dumplings I had ever eaten. My taste buds have definitely woke up since starting the pre-op diet. I can't believe how much went into my mouth unknowingly until you have to stop it. I cooked for the first time since surgery. It was quite an awareness to see how many time the spoon came up to my mouth inadvertingly and I had to put it down. It wasn't hard to do, but was very eye opening how we tend to eat like we breath - without thinking about it.
Well, I will close for now. Hopefully the next time I blog I will be in the 2's. Just four pounds away!
