Getting Closer!! February 9th is just around the corner.

Jan 27, 2009

I had my final pre-op visit with Lisa at Dr. Enoch's office today! After spending a few hours online getting feedback for many people, i had a few last minute questions. I have my ercp procedure on Thursday and that should clear me for the RNY on the 9th of February.
I have decided to start taking the Bariatric Fusion vitamins early along with a Biotin and B-12 supplement. i am majorly paranoid about losing any hair and i know its all about getting the protein but i want to add to my chances with the Biotin. Lisa says the B-12 shot will help with getting me thru the two procedures being so close together. Thanks to everyone for the great responses to ALL of my questions, this OH forum is so warm and friendly. i thoroughly enjoy getting to know everyone and watching their transformations!

Okay, Ready or Not, Here I go!!

Jan 13, 2009

I have my surgery date: February 9th, 2009. YIKES!!!! I am so very excited to get this underway but wow, it is really going to happen. I feel more than prepared for the procedure. I'm comfortable with my Dr. and am aware of the things that could go wrong. My fears are concerning the 'after' life, so to speak. The liquid and soft food diet seem do-able but the solid foods scare me.
Now that i actually have a date, i can focus my attention to living a healthy life afterwards. I am hoping to hear from anyone at the 'after' stage with solid food experiences, both good and bad!

ready, willing, able??

Jan 07, 2009

I had my final pre-op appointment with Dr.Enoch yesterday. I was approved by insurance last month, completed all visits with dietitians, psychologist, etc. My  pre-op medical scans were done back in November. They found that my gall badder was collapsed and full of stones and needed to come out immediately. I had not had any pain prior to the scan so i was shocked. Thanksgiving was no fun.

I had sudden pain on December 13th and went to the ER. They found a 5mm stone in my bile duct. Luckily it did not harm the pancreas but they did put in a stint to help my liver function. i have to have it removed next week.

Because the gastric by-pass affects the doctor's ability to reach the bile ducts, i have to postpone my procedure until they are certain that my liver is going to function correctly......i was very disappointed.

I am more than READY to start this journey, more than WILLING to make the changes that will allow me to be a healthier me, but I'm just not ABLE to do it as soon as I'd like...NOW!!!
I guess I'll continue to "research" every aspect of this adventure and try to be a patient patient!!!
