Today I had an appointment with my surgeon. My appointment was at 1:30 and I did not see him until 3:00. Then I had to wait until 4:00 to find out my instructions for the day of surgery. I didn't realize that I need to take 1/2 day off work for visits. Oh well, live and learn.
I still have to do an EKG on Wed. I am to be at the hospital @ 1:00 a week from tomorrow. I met a lot of ladies in the waiting room who either recently had surgery, or were about to have surgery. It was nice to hear the stories of the ladies who already had surgery. Most of the ladies were 50-60 years old. One 55 year old who was 1 month post op, lifted her shirt so we could see her incisions. I also met a 75 yearold that there to get her preop orders. I think the majority of them were on Medicare. Most said they did not have any post op complications. One lady was allergic to the wound adhesive.
I am concerned about my post op pain management. I will receive is liquid Tylenol only. I am allergic to Darvocet and hydrocodone. I really am scared about only having Tylenol.
I am praying everything is ok with the echo, and I will have the surgery on the 19th. Only one more step left.

I went to my PCP today to get my EKG and surgery clearance. I have to have everything turned in before my appointment on Monday, 08-11-08.
Well, I had an abnormal EKG which will require more testing. I will have an echo done on 08-13-08. The problem is that my surgeons office said that if I did not have my clearance by the appointment on the 11th, I would have to reschedule. I can't reschedule because I need the surgery before school starts. There is no one else that can bring my kids to school. I don't have any family here or any support system in place. I hope they don't cancel my appointment for Monday.
They said they would call me back. Lets see what happens.
In June I had lab drawn for my physical and my Triglycerides were 479, and HDL 23. I started doing Weight Watchers Core program on the day I got my results. My PCP started me on Tricor. My preop results showed my Triglycerides to be down to 205 and HDL is at 26. That is something that I am happy about.

I also started my preop diet today. I will be doing Atkins for two weeks. I hope I get a date soon, I don't want to have it scheduled later due to me waiting for my appointment and then being told to start 2 weeks of Atkins.

Now, the next thing I have to do is get a clearance for surgery from my PCP. I hope that I don't have any obstacles getting cleared. I have only seen her once, and she put me on Tricor and Metformin. My appointment is August 8.
I guess I will get excited when I actually get cleared and have a date.

I am so happy to now have some one to help me fight this battle.

Received denial letter from BCBS IL even though I meet all requirements. I am so disappointed. I really did not expect the denial. They did not send me a denial letter, only the copy of the policy which I have met everything they have listed.
