FINALLY!!

Sep 13, 2011

It has been 8 glorious weeks since my surgery. I have lost 31 pounds so far. I have been doing exceptionally well since surgery, taking half of my insulin, blood sugars under control, and off my blood pressure and cholesterol pills. Whoo HOO!!My biggest complaint is the reflux but it's tolerable.
Well yesterday after weighing in, I was feeling GREAT!!! So i decided to go into my chest of clothes that i have had hidden away for 5 years in hopes that i would one day fit into these clothes again.  OMG, After five yrs I fit into about 3 outfits..I DID IT!!!
For the rest of the outfits i need about another 5-10 lbs to fit into them comfortably. I'm so thrilled. Yesterday was the best day ever!!!

reality of surgery

Jul 26, 2011

i was truly excited and afraid to have my sleeve gastrectomy. i have many medical conditions, from type 1 diabetes, antiphosolipid syndrome(blood clotting disorder), lupus anticoagulant, hi blood pressure, hi cholesterol, and kidney problems. Whew so many!!!
I had my surgery Monday, July 18. Yeah!!! Truthfully i never imagined that as so as i came out of the anesthesia, i would truly be in the worst imaginable pain, worst than a C-section. That first day i was on constant pain meds but due to my blood clotting disorder i was still had to get up and walk the hallways. I survived it!! All my doctors were truly impressed with how uneventful my surgery and recovery was coming along. My husband and I walked so much during my hospital stay.

As each and every day passes the pain has become tolerable. It takes me at least 2 hrs to finish my protein shake and broth. The warm broth really soothes my stomach.  I have to be on my clear liquids for 3 weeks. I look at it as a way to help me lose more weight.
My family has been truly wonderful and my biggest supporters. As of today i have lost 12 .5 lbs and so excited to get below 200lbs, that is my first goal. O yeah and to get my blood sugars under control. My insulin has significantly been lowered and blood sugers are good. I want them perfect though.
So anyone considering to have weight loss surgery and is unsure because of medical conditions. I give you all my blessings to go ahead with the surgery. Just follow all the recommendations of your doctors and staff. You will do GREAT!!Find reputable doctors with a great staff and hospital facility. If you close to the LA area, you must go with the Cedars Sinai Weight Loss Center.
