WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY?
This study will look at the safety and effectiveness of an investigational, transoral gastroplasty in the treatment of obesity.
WHO IS NEEDED?
1) Volunteers must be age 18 – 60 2) Volunteers must not have a history of cancer 3) Volunteers must have a history of obesity for the past 2.5 years
WHAT IS INVOLVED IF I PARTICIPATE?
Duration:The study will last 1 – 2 years. There will be 7 – 14 study visits.
Tests/Procedures:Upper endoscopies, medical and psychological evaluation, nutritional and surgical counseling, blood tests, questionnaires, x-rays, and upper GI
Risks:Risks will be discussed with volunteers as part of the informed consent process.
Benefits:There is the possibility of potential weight loss.
Compensation:$25.00 per visit for time and effort.
