Waiting and waiting....

Jan 27, 2010

Well no message from the Dr.s office today but I did manage to swim a mile, 36 laps this morning.  that fetl great, I have been doing between 20 and 30 lately and it is good to get that whole mile in.  It takes about an hour and a half of non-stop swimming.  Had some beef stew (homemade) and a roll for dinner.  I am going to enjoy those rolls for now.  Have managed to stay away from all desserts for two weeks now.  If I am going to have a headache from stopping sugar and caffiein, I'd rather have it now than later.  I stopped taking the (2) Aleve I was taking for arthritis also.  Now I just have to get that approval and get the ball rolling.

Continuing the Journey

Jan 23, 2010

Well, still waiting for that insurance approval, but it hasn't been very long.  I was told to expect 2-3 weeks before approval.  I am doing very well at cutting out sugar, no desserts, no added sugar and watching that if I eat any processed food that it has 7 grams or less of sugar.  Sad to say, that my Special K protein bars have 15 grams of sugar and all of the HMR protein shakes also contain 15 grams of sugar.   I will most likely use up the protein bars that I have as they are better than having a large meal and they help me when I am working out at the gym, swimming.  Need a protein boost after swimming 30 laps.   I surprized myself yesterday, went to breakfast with a friend and had ordered 2 eggs over medium bacon and toast, didn't realize that the meal came with two pancakes.   I did not eat the pancakes or the syrup and butter that were with them.  Actually I realized I was full and didn't need them.  I cooked chicken thighs, minus the skin and any visible fat in my crockpot with 1 cup of chicken broth (all natural) and the zest of three limes.  Cook for 4-5 hours and then using 2 forks shred the meat off the bones.  This makes wonderful chicken fajita meat you can eat with low-fat sourcream and salsa.  Don't need the burrito skin.   Also makde frijoes ranchero with pinto beans black beans, garlic, chili powder, onion and poblano pepper.   they were fantastic and loads of protein and flavor.  iF ANYONE wants the recipes I will send them to you.
Well time to do laundry and cut out the material to make my son's Bengal christmas tree skirt.  Hope everyone has a blessed day.

My Last Journey

Jan 21, 2010

Right now I am waiting for insurance approval before we can start the pre-op testing.  My primary physician has also requested that I have a myogram (stress test) and get a release from my pulmonologist.   I have set some small goals while I am waiting.
