I just learned today that the mortgage refinance is set to be closed either Monday or Tuesday of next week.  That means the money I need to pay for WLS will be in my hands in no time!  :)

I still don't know if I am going to discuss this with my family as I have to travel South to get this done.  My grandmother called today to hint about weight loss.  When they had come up to visit us back in November after Thanksgiving, I think she was surprised at how much heavier I had gotten since they'd last seen me (2 years I think).  I mentioned staring Medifast again but hadn't made up my mind.  Also at the time the prospect of borrowing money against the equity in our home hadn't been a factor either.  So when she called she asked me if I had started "that program" I had talked about.

I didn't say anything about WLS.  I guess a part of me doesn't want to hear anything negative to try and sway me against this.  I've been waiting for 7 years to get this done and I just don't want to hear any nay-saying.  I will probably tell my mom but no one else.

But if everything goes as planned, I hope to have something scheduled in March or April of this year.  I'm so excited!!

I'm Back!!

Jan 15, 2007

Back in October of 2004 I wrote it would be my final post.  After no insurance, no help from family and no other means to pay, I had given up on the idea of ever having WLS.  Well, how things can change, right?  Who knew that by buying a home would mean that the possibility of having this life-saving surgery would come my way?  After being in our home for 2 years, we started the refinancing process in order to avoid our mortgage converting from a fixed to adjustable.  My husband initially suggested we borrow against the equity so I could have WLS.  At first I said no, we should use the money to put back into the house.  After thinking about it more, I realised my gut reaction was out of fear - fear of how different my life would become once I finally was able to have WLS.  So now we're waiting on a check from the mortgage company.  Once that arrives, it will be a matter of setting a date and preparing myself for one of the biggest life changing moments I'll likely ever have.   While I still am a bit afraid, most of me is quite excited because I can finally start doing the things I've avoided and been unable to do for so long.  I'm really looking forward to getting my life back.
