One Year Post Op

Sep 25, 2013

September 18th made one year since my surgery. I didn't think I would really los as much weight as I have but I have done so.  I feel so good..little sad about the hanging skin tho...but one step at a time right. I have stopped driving everywhere and doing more walking and sometimes just catch the bus. It's funny how doing little things like this makes life enjoyable..esp when you couldn't do them before. My biggest accomplishment besides losing the weight is my self esteem. I go out every day and no longer worry what people are thinking or saying about me. I see it as they see where I am..but not where I came from nor where I'm going.. So I just smile and think to myself "Only if you knew" ...LIFE IS GREAT. I took the steps necessary to get me to this point but only God's grace and mercy is what pulled my through. I still have no complications and blood work is great. Sometimes I try to eat naughty things but my pouch still wont let me consume the fattening foods. If I had to do this all over again would I? In a heartbeat!!!!!!

498 starting weight / 470 surgery weight / Current weight 297 / 173 pounds since surgery/ total weight loss 201 pounds.

My goal is to get to 160, I know I still have a long journey ahead but this I plan to make it to the finish line. Will keep you posted.

Sixth & Seventh Post Op

Apr 18, 2013

Sorry that I'm late with the 6th month post op but today is my seventh month since my surgery. I am just over filled with joy and the weight I have lost. I am now a very busy woman lol I am no longer bounded to my home. I am loving and living life. I am also noticing that people are not staring at me the way that they used to when they see me. It's not all I still get some stares and looks even laughter and whispers when some see me but it no longer bothers me because I know when I just come from and where I am going. Yay Me!!!  lol. I am just so happy and so is my husband ha ha ha.... The Lord is so good and really has bought me from a long ways...Everyday I awaken mentally and physically well is a blessing.

Okay now for my stats....in my 6th month I weighed 370 in that month I lost only 4 pounds..but that's okay I was told that in the 6th month it would slow down.. So that was exactly 100 pounds since surgery and 128 pounds total.

For my 7th month I now weigh 353..A total of 17 pounds this month and an overall total of 145 pounds. I'm not done yet. I still have another 193 pounds to lose. I know that it wont be done in the next 6 months but I'm going to strive everyday to get to my goal which is 160.

Five Month Post Op

Feb 27, 2013

I made the five month mark last week so I'm a bit late. This month changed a few things for me. My clothing size has went down a good bit so now I'm doing a bit of shopping. Also my feet are not as wide as they used to be. Who would have guessed that the width of your feet would slim down as well....lol  I'm so please with the progress so far. I have to admit that I have stepped off track a few times but I'm human right? I love the fact that I can get in some positions that I could not before (some of you will know what I'm talking about)..lol God is good and life is grand. Still have a good ways to go but I'll get there...So for my stats....

498 was starting weight/ 470 surgery weight/ Last Month 391/ This month 374/ That's a total of 17 pounds this month. I've lost 96 pounds since surgery & 124 pounds total.

Four Month Post Op

Jan 19, 2013

Yesterday marked my official four month post op. I am very pleased in what I have accomplished in this time. I am moving, breathing, and even sleeping better than I have for a very long time. It feels so great not to have to say four hundred and whatever pounds anymore. I'm still on the protein and it's funny now bc I've grown to actually like it and in the beginning i was like ewwwww...lol. I use Atkins and Designer's Whey...great stuff. Sometimes I find myself craving the bad foods but I have control so much better than I used to. If I was craving something starchy or sweet and didn't get it then I would develop a headache until I got it. I don't know if that was just a mental thing or what but it's no longer like that now. I have eaten a Mc Donald's regular small hamburger...well half of it because I still get full really fast. I know I still have a long journey to go. I'm no longer obsessed with the numbers on the scale...I can see the weight loss in my clothing and all the extra hanging skin..lol

Stats: Started @ 498 / Surgery Weight 470 / Last month  409 / This month 391 / So that's a total of 18 pounds this month. I've lost 78 pounds since surgery / 107 pounds total.

Three Month Post Op

Dec 18, 2012

Today marks the three month post op. I must say that I am please with my progress. I have been really getting in the protein and moving around much more. This week I lost 7 pounds alone. My goal is to be under 400 pounds by Christmas. This is my gift to myself. I really hope I can lose these 9 pounds left. I'm going to work really hard this week and walk the track 2 times a day instead of one. I'm also going to do protein shakes all day except for dinner which is a small portion anyway because of my inability to eat much. I love the fact that still after a few bites I can't eat anymore. I must say that I'm blessed to have lived with this weight for quite some time and not have had any co morbidities. Then to have WLS and still no complications after is a wonderful feeling. So I thank God for all his blessings.

Okay so as far as the stats go...As you know when I first started this journey I was 498 and surgery weight 470...Last month I was 432 and this month I'm 409 so that's a total of  23 pounds lost this month/ 66 pounds since surgery/ 81 pounds total.

Two Month Post Op

Nov 19, 2012

Okay so here I am as promised to give an update about my loss.  Was a bit successful but not much. However my doctor assures me that I'm good and my weight loss is on track. I am fully healed and have stopped most of the nausea. (Thank God)... So here is my progress so far. I was 431 last update and now I'm 427 which is only 4 pounds. So that makes me with a loss since surgery 43 pounds/ 63 pounds total. Sometimes I feel like all the excitement is just gone and I feel like it was all for nothing. But I also blame myself as well. I am not exercising as much as I should because I just don't have the energy to get up and get going. I still find that I tired out so fast when I go to the Y. I know it sound like excuses but this is a body of 10+ years with no type of muscle use. I know that there has to be something more that I can do. If you have any suggestions for me I'm willing to try something different. Thanks...Will update next month to let you know my progress...Wish me weight lossangry

Three Weeks Post Op

Oct 10, 2012

This week was okay for me with the RNY, but I gotten sick so was having to deal with other problems but I'm feeling a bit better today. For every pain and fever and sickness I went through I know no one but God carried me through. I had no pain meds to help me with this week. Don't have much to say this week but things are getting better. My left side is still sore and the incision has closed and healed nicely. Still get sluggish easily and trying to find the metabolism needed to get that exercise going. Overall life is good.

Let's get to my progress.... This week I weigh in at 432 pounds. Started at 498, Weighed 470 time of surgery, This week I lost 13 pounds. That's 38 pounds post op/ 66 pounds total.

Two Weeks Post Op

Oct 02, 2012

Okay here I am again with an update. I am now 2 weeks post op and I feel great. I still have a little soreness in the left side but that's manageable. I still have in my staples which I think is contributing to the pain but I will have them removed on Thursday. Two days ago I had nausea and throwing up slightly but I still don't know the cause of it because my routine didn't change..some say dumping but I say not possible....but anyway..I only cried once this week and that's when that incident happened. Showers have gotten to be pleasant once again. I'm able to do most things on my own without much help...Still cant bend over or tie my shoes and things like that so still getting help in that area....I have been in a recliner since I came home from the hospital so I really wanted to stretch out because my back was hurting so I did try and lie down which felt really good but when it was time for me to get up... it was horrible and I felt like I pulled something. I was sore the next day at one of my incisions but it's better now I pray. Other than that I am well because God has never left my side.

So now let me get to my process...This week I weigh 445 pounds. As you know I came into this journey at 498, lost 21 pounds before surgery, 470 pounds on date of surgery. This week I have lost 14 pounds. So that's 25 pounds post op / 53 pounds total.

One Week Post Op

Sep 25, 2012

Today is my first week post op....I see why it's called HELL WEEK...I just thank God that I have people that love and helped me through this. I also want to thank all the people that answered my forum when I felt confused about the what was going on within this week. I feel better just a tad bit sore on the left side. The pain is much more manageable and I don't need the pain meds anymore. This has truly been a experience for me and a life long lesson that I'm going through. I can say that I now realize that all that pizza and fast food home cooked big plates and soda and ice cream wasn't really worth it. I will not allow myself to go through this again...Easier said than done right ...not for me I'm so focused and I'm going to stay that way. My biggest problem is exercise because I don't have much of a metabolism to begin with so I am joining the Y to get help on that...maybe begin with water aerobics and move from there.

Well so far in my progress I am now 459 pounds. I was 490 highest weight when I began this journey and lost 21 pounds before surgery. I was 470 when I had surgery so that's a lost of 11 pounds this week/31 pounds total...Yay me..
