I guess it all came up kind of suddenly. I heard about WLS from on TV and the internet and such, but never thought I was a candidate. I have been heavy since high school, but my weight really shot up after college. I have tried almost all of the diets out there, and tried nutritionists, personal trainers, diet pills, all to no avail. I kept trying to lose the weight but it either wouldn't come off, or it would come off, and then come back on, and invite some more of its fat little friends

Mid-2008 I was diagnosed with high BP, borderline cholesterol issues, and diabetes. It's one thing to be heavy and happy, its another to be heavy, depressed, and ill. I had to do something about it. So I started seeing the nutritionist at my PCP's office.
I have been seeing the nutritionist in her practice since August of 2008, and up til November had lost exactly....nothing.

On November 4, 2008 I went to see my primary care. For reasons more personal than historical I will never forget that day (For the record...I voted...)   My PCP reccomended the lap-band to help me lose weight.

I have since met with the OCC team at Tufts-NEMC in Boston MA. I have decided that the RNY Gastric Bypass is the option for me.  I have gone through their pre-op program, and have a surgery date, 4/27/09. I have lost 12 lbs since November 4th, and plan to lose about 15 more before surgery (Mainly because when I was weighed at NEMC for the first time I was 7 lbs lighter than my heaviest weight....I feel gypped.)

I am a writer, so expect me to drone on about every little thing. I would love to make new friends and learn from everyone here, and help anyone I can.

Thanks fer listenin!
