Kaiser called and emailed me today...

Sep 09, 2008

Yesterday I called Kaiser to see if they had any idea of a surgery date. I also was concerned about some hair loss so besides leaving a message for the coordinator, I also called the nurse.

She said that my file was on the Dr.'s desk and had not been sent out yet. But that he would return Thursday and I would hear from somebody Thursday or Friday for sure.

Well she (the coordinator) called me back today and said that the Dr. was in today and looking at my file. She said she would call me tomorrow with some information.

When I read my emails tonight I had received an email from my Dr. saying that everything is a go and I'll be hearing from someone within the next two weeks for a surgery date... Whoot, Whoot!!!

I'll post tomorrow when I hear back.

Made it to Onederland... or did I ?

Sep 02, 2008

Okay, for the last week afnd a half I have been under 200 when I get up in the morning but back to above in the day and evening. AND... it's with that not so sure about scale.

Anyways I have been somewhat reluctant to say I made it to ONEDERLAND because of those issues. Well finally... I am under 200 in the evening and in the morning even if it is with that scale, so I'm going to count it. Whew!!! I said it... I guess my next goal will be to be able to walk into the Dr.s office and be under 200... Then I'll really be excited. Until then I'm going to count this. (At least here on my blog).

I'll add a few lbs. when I call my weight in to the Dr.

Psyhce Evaluation

Aug 24, 2008

I finally made it to my appointment with Dr. Julie Kovitz (Psyhce Dr) on 8/21/08 in Union City.

I was early for my appointment and she was able to take me right in and I was out before my actual appointment time.

She said I seemed well adjusted and ready for the surgery and it looks like I may have my surgery by October.

Scale Off...

Aug 08, 2008

Dang it!!!

I just found out my scale at home is off by 3-5 lbs to the lite side.

I wish I knew exactly how much. Today it said I was down to 204. So am I down to 209 or 207. I guess as long as I continue to lose and I'm below my target for my surgery it really doesn't matter.

Mental Health Evaluation

Aug 01, 2008

I went to another orientation with a friend of mine. She went with me to mine so I went to hers.

While there I asked the people in the office why I had not heard anything  about my next step. They checked my file and it didn't show that I had called in my information and they were ready to drop me from the program.

They weighed me and gave me an apponitment for August 21, 2008. after that I wait for the surgery.

I asked the Dr. that was speaking how long generally if there are no problems will it take from the orientation to surgery. He said everyone in the room if there were no problems should have thier surgery in 4 months. So I guess I'm getting closer  and closer.

I was concerned because the pounds started coming off on my pre-op diet and I was worred if I lost too much weight they may not do my surgery. The Dr. said that they will still continue but losing the weight will make the surgery go that much easier.

I'm back...

5/12/08
Not too long after my last post I changed jobs. Which meant that I also changed health care providers. Soooooo, I had to start everything over again. My father became terminally ill and I chose to take care of him and put my surgery aside.

I now have Kaiser and I looked at it as a good sign. I hear so many good things about have Kaiser WLS. I went to the first mandatory orientation and I guess you could say I was scared away. At that time I had ended up losing my father to cancer and one of the ladies had asked about getting cancer and being able to fight back if you have had BP surgery.

The Dr. made a good comment to this particular lady. She was very large and he told her straight up. If you don't have the surgery you may not have to worry about the cancer. Your'e other health issues will ge you first.

I was not that heavy and I'm sure I'll get cancer, it runs strong in my family but I thought. Maybe I'd see if I could excercise and change my eating habits and lose the weight.

Well it didn’t work before and it didn't work this time either.

Then a strange thing happened. I was driving home from work last week and someone from Kaiser called me. They said that my appointment to see the surgeon had to be rescheduled. I told her I had not made an appointment and she insisted that I had. We went over all of my information and she had the right person. So she asked me if I had considered WLS. I said yes she said well then let’s reschedule your appointment. I did!!!

So now I'm back on OH every night reading and looking and getting excited about having my surgery. Hopefully I will stay on track this time.

Update 2/11/07

Feb 11, 2007

I started this whole thing back in August of 2006 but was hospitalized for my diverticulitus for 7 days and could not get back on weight watchers as my PCP had asked because each time I tried to introduce fiber I would have a flair up again.

I have had all of my tests done and I have completed my Nut. appoints. All I had to do was 6 months of documentation and weigh ins. Now  I have to redo the weigh ins because I had a break of more than a month. So now I wait again, but thats okay. I'll get there. I have one of my best friends Sherri G. that is about 3 yrs post op. supporting me whole heartedly. I also have 2 people at work that are going through the process as well. We could all end up about the same time. That will make it nice to be able to support each other.
