Question:
What could this be? I can't get comfortable all of a sudden

I am 5 days post op and everything has gone perfectly until today. I got up,got my first shower, took meds, felt great still and all of a sudden, My stomach hurt just above the navel, I felt kinda dizzy and clammy, but all I had today was beef broth and half a popsickle and the usual water with a bit of grape juice. It hurt through to my back. I thought it was menstral cramps so I broke a vicoden in half and tried to get them down with a sip and it hurt. It has been 7 hours and nothing brings me relief. I now feel kinda hot and have had little water. I did do some light house cleaning such as picking things up off the counters and such but can't for the life of me figure what this pain is coming from. My drain is still in and is looking clearer. I'm just worried to death. has anyone had this?    — Linda T. (posted on March 16, 2003)

I am assuming you overdid but I don't think I would let this go on without calling the surgeon. You are still so early a post-op. Personally I would call tonight but if not then first thing in the morning and don't wait for the darn office to open up, have him or her paged by 6 or 7 am, otherwise they might be in surgery.

Jeez, you are only 5 days out! I could barely get to the bathroom on my own by then. Slow down, let yourself heal, baby yourself a little. It's better in the long run.

I am 2 weeks post op and had days where I had very little pain and other days where I thought I was dying. My stomach hurt really bad just below my incision above my navel. It felt like pressure was building inside and once it really started draining this past Saturday the pain and pressure was relieved. I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorro just to be sure it is not infected. Best wishes to you it does get better with every passing day.
