First impression was very business like but compassionate and that impression remained over time.
Office staff is rude and has alot of room for improvement. I'm sure it's because they are so busy. This is my 4th surgery and the unhappiest office staff I've ever been in touch with. Getting through on the phone is next to impossible.
Sort of felt like one of 300 patients, not alot of personal attention but adequate care.
Aftercare is emphasized but I expected more information in writing. Alot of verbal instructions both in the hospital and during follow up visits. Being medicated, tired and just generally overwhelmed, I thought they can do a much better job communicating information.
Overall he's an excellent surgeon but his total package/team needs improvement.
Dr. Greene is a very sweet man. He has compassion for his patients. He is devoted to helping everyone reach their goal. He is a great surgeon. I am a doctor and have operated with him on other cases. His skills are impressive. He has a very structured aftercare program which shows his commitment to long term success for all.
I had a very short first impression of Dr. Greene but he seems very competent and thorough which is a very good thing in my eyes. His staff Jeanne,Julia, and Sue are Phenomenal! I definately would reccomend him as a surgeon to anyone seriously looking into this surgery.. Only the serious survive though as he is VERY thorough in his approach and pre-testing and also through his pre-prep and such. He is VERY strong for aftercare and followup for the rest of your life. He is very straight forward about risks and changes you must make in reguards to this life change. I never felt worried or fear in reguards to his surgical competence. Although I mostly interacted with his staff. The few times I have gotten to meet with him face to face have been very pleasant. These are just my opinions based on my experience and interactions with him and his staff and by no means can reflect on how others might feel about him or his staff.
Dr. Greeene is wonderful. I would highly recommend him for anyone considering wls. His program is very thorough and informative. The support group meetings, pre & post-op are excellent and inspiring. His office staff is top notch and they are willing to do anything they can to make your journey as success.
Overall, my experience w/ Dr. Greene and his staff has been VERY positive.
Dr. Barry Green was very compasionate, took time to explain things and is very pro educating patients to make wise decisions about which surgery is right for them.
I left his office feeling like I had a lot to think about and very positive.
He offers a structured aftercare support network and his office staph seem very nice.
He was very up front about the risks and gave percentages for each type of procedure. Very serious and thought provoking. But what are the choices...yo you dieting, high B/P and diabetus?
I guess the only negative was that he has only performed 10-12 Lap band procedures and this is what I am leaning towards.
I give him an A+ all round.
my first impression of dr. greene was that he was super nice and friendly. he is also brilliant always revising a procedure to make it even better. he is very strict with is pre-op and post-op care. he requires a liquid diets 2 weeks pre-op and 3 weeks post-op. extensive pre-op testing and several post-op meds. his program is 70/30, for protein/carb. and he introduces new foods once you are eating solids very slowly. he pushses water, vitamins and exercise and requires that you attend support group meetings prior to your surgery. he is very strict but i'm glad i went with him as my surgeon. you will see him frequently post-op at least 4 times in the first 6 months. the only thing that has changed his the volume of patients he know sees. most of the time your check-ups are 5 minutes top w/the dr. and the waiting time even with an appointment is very long usually 3-4 hours. his office staff is awesome! during his pre-op presentations at the support group meetings, he emphasizes all the risks and he reasoning behind his strict program. if you do not follow his orders, he has been known to postpone your surgery--in a heartbeat. he is the best wls surgeon in my area and he has an iron-clad reputation. i was very happy with the program that i followed.
I started this process with Dr. Marcus. However, shortly after my first consult with him, he announced his retirement. Hope I wasn't the one to push him over the edge : )
He referred all of his patients to Dr. Greene. I was very nervous. It took me a long time to get the courage to see Dr. Marcus. However from the first moment, Dr. Greene understood my position and was very accomodating. I feel very confident and comfortable about him from this meeting.
Dr Greene has a support group every other wednesday night at Holy Cross Hospital. He also has a very structured aftercare program. He has a presentation about all of the risks of the surgery and makes it clear that it is a tool to lose weight.
I am not sure about his office. Since he has taken over so many patients from Dr. Marcus they are swamped. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. However, I am not confident about how organized that they currently are. They have alway been pleasant when I have called.
The WLS support group which meets every 2nd & 4th Wednesdays was the first time I met Dr. Greene. Post-Ops discussed experiences --the good, the bad and yes, the ugly. The need to take supplements/vitamins, the importance of protein and the importance of a sound aftercare program including attending meetings were stressed. Dr. Greene was introduced and followed w/Power Point presentation about types of WLS. I was not disppointed as I had conducted a lot of research regarding WLS, types and surgeons. Dr. Greene appeared very professional, meticulous, detail oriented and knowledgeable. At my first consult, Dr. Greene immediately focused on my med reports from EKG, EGD, Sleep Study, Psych and Pulmonologists. His staff seemed very task-oriented and most seemed very warm & friendly. In response to which is better... while bedside manner goes along way, surgical competence ensures a smooth and successful post-surgical "future". Prayerfully a long and healthy future. --KW
I just wanted to say that Dr. Green and his staff were very good to me. I had a fast turn around in getting all my testing and a surgery date. I also helped make it all happen by staying on top of my paper work. Dr. Green has a great staff, they to have life's out side of work, so we all need to do our part to get what we want done. You never base your happiness on others, so do yourself what it takes to get thing done for you. Dr. Green and staff are working for so many of us and we all come first to ourselves. So be good to yourself to make everything go quickly as possible. I was very impressed by all the care I received at Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Green came to see me and my family before surgery. He also talked to my family after surgery. I saw Dr. Green every day of my hospital stay. Dr. Green informed my of all the good/bad thing about the surgery helping me to determine what was best for me. Dr. Green is straight forward and very professional doctor who truly cares about your health. He's a kind and soft spoken man that has a heart to make a difference in your life. HE HAS TRULY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN MINES. First give honor to my Lord and savior, then Dr. Green and staff my life is for ever changed. My love, blessing are forever in my prayers. Thanks for my new LIFE.............LaJuan
