I have only met with Dr. Randall once so far, but will be meeting with him again tomorrow. I think that he his very dedicated to what he does. I really think that he wants to help people. I have attended the support group meetings that his office coordinates and these have been extremely helpful. It gives you a chance to hear from people who have had the surgery - what it was like, what the side effects are and so on. Dr. Randall's staff seems to be as dedicated to helping as much as he is. I will be also meeting with the nutritionist tomorrow. I will update my feedback asap.

I have known my surgeon for over 9 years
I also work for him.

He is a great guy. If anyone in the state of MA wants to have this surgery done they should have it done by him.

At first I can't tell you that I was bowled over....but I have come to see him in a whole new light. What did impress me was how much the people who worked with him and had been his patients thought of him....very,
very highly. He has a wonderful sense of humor and can put you at ease with his smile.
I have come to have a terrible crush on him myself. I like the fact that his care of you does not stop with the operation, his support groups are informative and well attended. Personally I am not into all that rah rah rah I lost weight crap, so there are times when I think to myself, I drove two hours for this but then some one will make a comment that will ring a bell and it makes the whole trip worthwhile. The staff usually tries to give great hints on new things to eat or make your life easier. The have informative speakers but it seems to be geared mostly for people on the north shore. My incision is a work of art, he "seams" to take great pride in his work. (joke) I am sooooooo glad that he was my
surgeon and look forward a continued relationship until I reach my goal, something I had basically given up on. I have referred a friend and my sister is also considering it....he is wonderful.

My experience was WONDERFUL! I loved him from the day we met for my consult. His office secretary (Diane), is very outgoing, doesn't beat around the bush at all, willing to help everyone who needs anything. He emphasizes aftercare from the very begining with lots of support through their monthly meetings for the public. He makes you very aware of all risks you may encounter with surgery, both during and after surgery, allowing you to take in any possible complications that may arise. Luckily for me, nothing arised! :) I would rate him 1 out of 10, to be an 11! He's amazing! He is VERY competent with all areas of surgery, bedside manner, honesty, and caring individual, overall, he's the BEST surgeon in my eyes I could have chosen for my needs.

So far, so good. Dr. Randall is very understanding and carefully evaluates each patient before recommending anything. His answers are honest and up front, even if it's something you didn't want to hear.

Though it seems you have to wait a long time for a surgery date, it's worth it. Between appointments with dieticians and follow up visits with him prior to surgery, time does fly. I'm scheduled for surgery 9/11 and can't wait!

Between preop testing, dietician visits, psych evaluations, and a physical therapy program he is putting together (for before and after), he makes sure the "whole" you is take care of.

I'll let you know more after surgery!

I really like DR Randall. He is very confident and I feel like I can trust him. He answered all of my questions with patience and I didn't feel rushed at all.
His office is busy and I consider that a positive thing. I had to wait a little bit for my apt but once I was in the room with him I felt like I had all the time in the world, like it was up to me when the meeting was over. I like Diane who is his office manager.

Dr Sheldon seemed to be a very concerned Physician. After reading so many posts on this site, and attending his support group sessions, I was well prepared for the consultation. He was quite thorough with his questions, and demanded details. He is a Not BS individual, but I felt quite comfortable with him, His staff is quite helpful, and just couldn't seem to do enough for you.. My appointment was at 5:15 pm, and his office was full. He spend almost 45 minutes with me uninterrupted. But again, I can not say strongly enough... He is not in the business of playing games. He really doesn't have time for that. If you have you paper work prepared in advance, and bring any and all pertanent information, the consult will go very smooth He emphasizes the need for strong post op care. And that support is available through his office or through the support group which meets once a month. THe post op care, I feel, is needed not only for medical purposes but mental as well.
Dr Randall pulled no punches on the risk on surgery. Surgery is surgery. and it can be life threatning. You have several months to prepare yourself and you body for healthier life conditions, so that the odds are definately in your favor, you should take advantage of
the situation As to rating Dr Randal. I found him quite charming and very supportive. He has preformed this sugery more than 825 times with almost complete success. I can only assume his bedside manner will be an extention of his supportive demeanor.
I have made appointments for the Nutrionists and for the Physc Exam. and that will be completed by 5/26/2000 and then Ijust wait for approval and then a date. THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL>>>

Very nice and understanding. He can be tough too. He likes to see a presurgery weight loss. His nurse Diane is a diamond in the rough. She has a hard exterior but is actually nice. They have monthly meetings for support. I am most impressed with his sugical competence but his bedside manner rates highly also.
