Congratulations on your weight loss Patrick! You should be very proud of yourself! You're half the man you use to be.....in a good way! Thank you for the "heads-up" on the B-12. I am a pre-op scheduled for surgery on February 17. I started the process in December of 02, so I have done a lot of research and gone to support groups, but I don't think anyone is every totally ready or if they totally know what to expect. I appreciate all the info from post-ops that I can get. Again, congratulations, and best of luck to you!

Hello my fellow barriatric explorers! I have very pleased with the weight loss I have seen. It is amazing what I have been able to accomplish with the help of this amazing surgery ! I had my surger in Feb. 03, and have todate (Jan. 04) gone from 470lbs to 215lbs. I would just like to say be careful about getting enough vitamin b12. If you fall short it can cause many problems. I was told that we cannot absorb it through the pouch effectively so we need to get desolving drops for under the tongue or the injection form of b12. Check with your Doc to make sure you are getting the right nutrition! Also be on the lookout for bowel obstruction. This month I had an obstructed bowel and was sent home from the local emergency room with a diagnosis of 'Constipation", well to make a long story short, they chose to ignore the fact that I told them I was a post-op barriatric patient , this little mistake could have cost me my life! Be sure that if you think you have a problem that you see a doctor who is fully aware of the possible side effects of your surgery, it could be a life or death matter! This surgery can be the best thing that ever happened for you, just proceed carefully and get all the info you can. Thx

Don't be discouraged, 93 pounds is awesome, some people lose a little faster than others, especially if you have alot to lose. You don't say how much you have to lose. We share the same surgery anniversary, I'm sure the weightloss will pick back up. My surgeon said we have the window of 18 months. So don't give up!!

Thank you for sharing. I used to slack on all of my vitamins, even after my plastic surgery, and my levels were very low after only 2 months. But that was a HUGE eye opener for me, plus I am driven to get my hair healthy and growing back fuller.

YES I CAN NOT BELIEVE WHAT I LOOKED LIKE LAST FEB. COMPARED TO THIS YEAR. I DO HAVE A HERNIA FROM LIFTING MY HUSBAND BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY. BUT I WOULD LIFT HIM AGAIN IF I COULD. I WENT TO ST. V. YESTERDAY THEY WERE PLEASED WITH THE WEIGHT LOSE AND SAID I HAVE LOST 70% OF MY BODY FAT. BUT I HAVE TO HAVE A CAT SCAN AND SURGERY SOON ON THE HERNIA. GOD BLESS THIS SURGERY AND THE DOCTORS FOR GIVING US ALL A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE. DEBBIE CLAY

I'll be 1 year post op on February 13th. I'm feeling like a million bucks, only lost about 80 pounds but I'm looking quite nice and I've passed my goal. I wanted to be a size 14, today I'm a size 11 and the weight loss has stopped. That's my fault, cause I'm not even trying. Now listen, I neglected to take my iron, and sometimes my multivitamin, and rarely take my calcium. Here's the news, Doc says I'm going to need a blood transfusion, and that's not all, I'm in jeopardy of causing myself deterioration of the liver. Please don't do what I did, no matter how great you feel, those vitamins are the one thing we must remember to consume more than anything else...Amy Latorres

Congratulations! I'll be 1 year post-op on February 13th, I'm only down 80lbs. but I'm not even really trying. I'm happy for you and look at your accomplishment as encouragement to get off of my smaller but still thick butt..Amy Latorres [email protected]
