Topic: RE: hungry already?????
I am so glad you brought up this subject. I find almost clock work I am hungry sometimes even starving @ 3 hrs after meals. I wonder if it is head hunger or blood sugars dropping since I am eating soooo much less than I use to. Which ever, it helps me get my protein in.

Topic: RE: Post-Surgical Depression
Depression- I had depression prior to surgery but did notice it did get worse after surgery. I mourned my old eating habits. I can say it has got much better now that my diet has changed to more food chooses. I encourage you to see your doctor and discuss with him/her. You may need a antidepressant for a little while. Also talking to someone may also help.
As for the fatique, that is probably the worse for me. I went back to work 4 weeks after surgery, I was mentally ready but my body is saying "WHAT ARE YOU DOING". I have found that I am going to bed earlier to try to help with the added fatigue. All I can say is be kind to yourself and take it easy.
You can get thru this.

Topic: You can DO THIS!
I just wanted to post a GOOD SKILLS and Congratulations to everyone who had surgery in March. I'm 3 years out yesterday and just wanted to pop onto a newbie board and offer my support. I know being on here was one of the best things I did for myself besides the surgery! Support is everything.
FIrst off don't panic! It's weird and you are probably feeling like your life will never get back to "normal" but it will.
It won't be easy, it won't be quick, but you will change your life.
Be well and for the love of Pete _stay compliant_!
I'm serious Vitamins _every_ day_ , water, protein before carbs, move daily and it will happen and you will move towards your goal.
Each time you take a sip of that nasty protein drink is one more step towards your goal. When you are wondering if you can take one more sip of soup, you can. When you are wondering if your going bald, you might be, but (it grows back, it's temporary usually and it's WORTH IT) change is hard and this is a marathon people. A rest of your life marathon where you get into shape as you run it.
Stalls are inevitable, take the long view on your health and spend the energy on something more important like how you are going to pay for the Vitamins...:)

I haven't had the hunger pains just the head hunger ....wanting to smell all the food my hubby orders but no desire to eat it and really I can't. I'm 11 day post-op in pureed foods yet. Love vanilla yogurt can eat the whole container 6 oz but slowly ...30 minutes at least and that is because I draw it out anyway. I take a bite then put a load of laundry in and ect... working around house or what not then take a bite and so on. Same with a cup of ff cottage cheese and with scrambled eggs, which over time gets cold....yuck! I guess because I take my time eating I can eat more.
Topic: RE: 3/17 RNY-how are you doing?
I haven't had any pain since the end of week one. I returned to work after week two, but I have a desk job. I am struggling to get in 700 calories a day, but focus mostly on the protein. I do feel like I have periods of low energy and weakness. Sometimes, if I take a spoonful of baby cereal made with protein milk, I pick up a bit. I took my B12 for the first time Sunday and felt a lot better for a few days. Now that is the end of the week, I am starting to feel run down. I have been eating ground turkey in a little tomato sauce( my nutritionist suggestion) and it tastes really good. I went to my first party last weekend, I was able to disappear during the meal since there was nothing I could eat, but the only thing people notices was that I turned down alcohol! someone asked me if I was pregnant! The next challenge is Easter dinner, but my mom is making sure there is food I can eat.

Topic: Post-Surgical Depression
Anyone suffering from depression after surgery? I seem better than I was. I cried for a long time after one week of nothing but clear liquids. I find that my interest in food is changing thank God, but I still feel mild depression and fatique.
Topic: RE: 3/17 RNY-how are you doing?
I had surgery on 3/18. Monday was my first day back to work. I've been feeling pretty good. Still very tired at the end of the day. Also working to get my protein up to 74 gm/day and get in all my water (64 oz/day). All getting better as the days go by...
Topic: RE: So how many here have had the two to three week stall??
Same here. Surgery was on 3/18. I lost 20 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks and nothing since. I'm trying to not weight myself everyday. I really don't want to get obsessed with the scale. I've been reading the boards for so long and most people seem to have an initial stall.
