Topic: RE: Surgery April 21st, anyone around the same time??
Hi!!!  My surgery date is also 4/21.  We have just a little over a week to go.  My surgeon only requires a low-fat diet 2 weeks prior to surgery to help shrink the liver.  Last night I was surfing the sight when I ran across some poor soul who's surgeon required an eight week liquid diet prior to surgery.  That's just plan evil!!!  I sent them my sympathies and well wishes and thanked my stars that I didn't have to endure that hell.

I'm doing my best to keep my diety fat intake to a minimum but I must admit I'm doing battle with the "last super" syndrome for a few of my favorite things like my sodas.  I guess that's appropriate being that it's Easter weekend.  I'm really going to miss my cold bubbly caffine in the mornings.  I absolutely hate coffee so I became a soda junkie instead.

I am also noticing that my excitement is gradually being replaced by anxiety and fear as my date grows closer.  I am very greatful for this second chance to get my life in order and live a healthier, longer life but that fear of the unknown is a booger!!!

I wish you all the best and hope to hear more from you.

Hi I'm also scheduled for April 15th. I just got my insurance approval on friday afternoon (April 10). I live in Minnesota, have a BMI of 41ish. I will be having a RNY and only have a one day liquid diet. I'm thankful for that but have heard many positives about the two week liquid diet, like easier recovery.

Good Luck to all only a few more days!

I'm having the lap RNY.  I bought the equivalent of the 'silver bullet' at Walmart today.  It's a Sunbeam.  I found I need the ice and texture for my protein shakes.  Maybe a tiny bit of fruit too.  What surgery are you having?  Have you done your endoscopy?

I don't know anything about the lap band. If it is adjustable does that mean you can see it externally? If you go to a pool can you see it and can you swim with it? How long do you miss work? Is BEANO of any use?

I'm the 28th!  I'm so excited.  I start my 2 week fast on Tuesday.   I even bought a new hand blender to help the protein go down easier!

Good luck!

Mine is the 14th and I am very concerned.  I have been through this before when I had a DS in 2002.  I was very calm for it, but this time I think I might be pushing my luck.  I am having a different type of surgery than usual with much higher risk factor.  But, my biggest fear is adjusting to the new eating restrictions post-op.  Again, maybe because I've been through it before.

Anyway.....good luck to all of us!  I hope for a smooth surgery and good drugs for everybody!

Mike
