Hello to all, I will apologize to all of you for dropping out of the loop. I have been so busy with a sick mom (who is better now...but is 62 and went in to cardiac arrest early October and then in to ICU for some time to figure out what was what).I have been reading the board every so often but always seem so rushed...however...I can tell we are dwindling and that is not good. I will certainly try to get back and support all of my buddies. I remeber you in my prayers and know that we are all on a different journey. I have gained about 5 pounds and can tell in my clothes so I need to get back on track and my past tells me that liquids is the only way...the protein diet and back to basics. We can do this folks.....Xmas is a nice goal date so how about some new goals for those presents for ourselves under the tree.?????????????????? My Xmas goal is to be in the 149 range..........even if it is just a flicker on the scales...I will take that....... Hugs to all, Karen

I had given up on this board... shame on me... it's jumping again! Yeah!!! Well... I kicked the nutritionist to the curve. I cannot handle white carbs. Go figure! Went to see my regular doctor who has put me on the South Beach Diet which has carbs from vegetables and fruits and limited starches like sweet potatoes. It seems to be working. I ballooned up to 230 quickly under the nutritionist's plan... now I'm back down to 223. It was very easy. This diet doesn't require calorie counting. You eat until you are satisfied which is not hard since the pouch is still working. Eating until you are satisfied also helps with that head hunger that gets the best of me often. Guess what! I'm dating, something I haven't done in over 14 years. I'm as giddy as a school girl and having fun. I have a new goal of at least 5 lbs per month. I thinks really attainable now. I want to at the doctor's goal of 168 be our 3rd rebirthday in July 2007. I think it's attainable! Hugs!! Denise

Good Luck on the IUI Pamela. I've been having a great week. I'm really starting to see the results of my workouts. I started on October 9 and I've been going at least 3 times a week. This week I made it four times. No movement in the scale. But I'm losing inches! Its weird how that works. I guess I'm building lots of muscle to replace the fat. Muscle looks so much better. Yesterday I noticed a pair of pants that I wear regularly was really loose in the waist. And today I put on a fitted shirt that used to show all the pudges. But today it lookes svelte. I haven't really changed my eating, except to pay attention to and try to limit the after dinner snacks. Still getting in the protein and now an extra 20 oz of water, with the workouts. Today's plan: Breakfast Turkey Sausage and Applesauce Lunch 1/2 of Junior Gyro w/ tomatoes and fresh cucumbers (none of the creamy sauce, which I'm sure is loaded with calories) Dinner Salad w/ Turkey, Cheese and Egg Snacks Chex Mix Apple This weekend I plan to get out and rake some leaves. Hopefully it's not too cold. Have a great weekend.

The first part of my day looked absolutely great yesterday. I even walked those 15 minutes! The evening, not so much. For dinner, I had St. Louis Bread Company and got a french onion soup with baguette and a small caesar salad (which is pretty healthy by their calorie counts). I also picked up a bagel and light cream cheese, which I INTENDED to eat for breakfast. WELL...I ate the bagel, one of my husband's Taco Bell tacos, leftover lasagna, and a couple pieces of candy. Now, this was not all in one sitting...I ate dinner too early, and I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping, so I stuffed the lasagna and candy down near midnight. If I hadn't had those, I would have done pretty good for the day. Maybe today... This morning, I go in for my IUI. Hopefully this month will result in a baby. With one egg, I'm kind of nervous that it won't work out. But the timing appears awesome! B: cereal with banana L: Subway turkey & Soup D: NOW we'll have the hashbrowns and cheese (daughter went out for dinner last night with grandparents, so I didn't end up cooking) and carrots S: I don't know...I rarely ever stick to planned snacks, because I always end up being in the mood for something else Exercise: none today...I'm supposed to take it easy after IUI, although I'm going back to work (which requires me to sit on my behind helping students) Have a great weekend! Janette, I'm so sorry that you're still having such a rough time. Did they get your sugard and your Graves worked out? I wonder why everything bad happens at once? Is it because one problem causes all the others? Hopefully they will soon have you completely figured out so that you can be healthy once again. I hope you turn the corner soon! Pamela

Oh Janette, you poor thing! I can't believe you're going through all of this - yes, truly a nightmare only you're awake. Your attitude is great - keep going girl, because you need to keep on trying. They'll get it right!! I'm praying that you've seen the worst of it and things will start going uphill from here on in. If there's anything I can do for you please let me know. I'm sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers!!!!! Love and hugs, Nancy

I am still having complications since last time i wrote. Had surg In Aug for necrcotic adhesions, fistula, ulcer, partial gastrectomy(removal of orginal stomach, and take down and rebuilding of new pouch and partial removal of intestines and reattachment to pouch. Well I never recovered. continued to lose weight even with g tube feedings( tube into the old stomach with formula feeds) Went into the hosp the 19th of Aug for complete bowel shut down. It was not mechanical but functional and I was so diteneded I actually looked like I was 15 months pregnant. After 10 days they finally got everthing moving again and now I need to see more specialists to find out out whats causing it. While in the hosp. my blood sugars kept bottoming out even with IVS and they had to keep giving me stratight dextrose IV and my Graves disease(thyroid) went completely haywire. To add insult to injury I also have a abdominal wound infection.I am finally home after almost 2 weeks. I am now again on TPN IV continous and am back up to 119 lbs, should be @ 135 plus. Still on nausea meds, zofran at $1500 for 50 pills and can still only take very minimal by mouth. What a nightmare. But I am also like the energizer bunny and just keep going. Just thought I would give an update.
