Denise, You can get a hold of this beast and tame it.....one common theme I noted in your post is stress = eating. Do not allow your emotions to control you...I know easier said then done...been there done that myself . What I do when I get that urge to eat out of control is to get away from food. I either call a friend to talk about my stress, leave the house (go for a walk, go to the gym, go window shopping) anything that will elevate the urge to reach out to food for comfort. Ya, Mary M.

Well... first off think of this as a bump... not a end. or perhaps a time to make a change to continue on the journey. Don't give up on your body just yet. There are so many helpful resources out there for us. Here are a few of my favorites. Dr. Terry Simpson's site. Lots of good info... check this book out http://www.obesitydr.com/fundamentals_book/intro.htm Kaye Bailey also has compiled tons of helpful stuff on her site. http://www.lifeafterwls.com/ A site that helps one come back to their body. Check out the OASIS link to the right on this site. http://www.consciouseating.com/ Even this far out...consider trying some of these things. Consult a nutritionist to help you make a NEW plan for eating and exercising. See a cognitive therapist... perhaps there are habits you are unaware of that may be keeping you from losing those last pounds. Stay positive. Get enough sleep. DON'T GIVE UP! Hope this helps. Good morning July babies... I'm struggling. I need to get control of my eating. I plan to detox today. All liquids AchievOne, Crystal Lite, sugar free popsicles and maybe even chicken broth. The scale is moving the wrong way again. My goal is to get under 200 by Christmas. I can't do this binging. I don't know what's going on in my head but this has got to stop. Maybe it's because I've scheduled an appointment with the nutritionist in October; maybe it's because I'm turning 50 on Friday; maybe it's because I'm stressing out over my finances; maybe it's because I'm stressing out over the admission process for getting my daughter into a college prep high school next year. The process is brutal and competitive. Anyway you slice it. I've got to get it under control, and that includes exercising more than once per day. So here's to me winning the battle in my head and pushing away from the table. I can do this. I know I can. Hugs! Denise

Topic: RE: I have Osteoporosis!
Hi Tracy, Well, this must be why I logged on tonight. I too have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and was prescribed Boniva and was on it for a year until this past June. There is news about this class of drugs that caused me and my dentist to consult my endocrinologist about the possibility of osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), a condition that denotes the death of jaw bone tissue. It appears more pronounced in cancer patients but has appeared in noncancerous patients. It appears more with the use of the IV Boniva so that's why I decided to write you. Here is a thumbnail news release that you might use for your own research prior to beginning a regemine of Boniva. My endocrinologist said the benefits didn't outweigh the detriments in my case. I am simply urging you to get several different opinions before you begin this treatment. Don't overlook the necessary testing to be sure your Blood Calcium levels are high enough to accept this treatment before you begin it -if you decide to go ahead and take bisphosphonates. >Fosamax and other Bisphosphonates Linked to Debilitating Jaw Disease >Date Published: Wednesday, September 6th, 2006 > Bisphosphonates, a class of medications used to treat osteoporosis and advanced cancers that have spread to the bone, have been linked to osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), a condition that denotes the death of jaw bone tissue. Popular bisphosphonates include Fosamax, Boniva, Zometa and Actonel. These drugs have become some of the most widely prescribed medications throughout the world. Merck's Fosamax recorded sales of $3.2 billion in 2005 and over 22 million prescriptions written in the United States alone, according to IMS Health. It is estimated that over 2,400 Fosamax patients have reported serious jaw bone problems, including osteonecrosis of the jaw, since 2001.< Please get busy on your computer and find out as much as you can and talk to your doctor about absolutely all the plusses and minuses. I don't pretend to know what is best for you (or anyone but myself) but I thought this was important enough to submit for your consideration. Hugs, Cathy At goal: 175lbs
