Thanks ladies Yes, it's because we're WLS patients that I'm doing the IV Boniva. We just don't absorb all of any pill we take, and it's cruicial that I get this Boniva in. I had a biopsy/spot removed on my breast this morning. It'll be 2 weeks before we get pathology back on that. I don't go to the specialist until the 18th of Oct to discuss my mammogram results, which are unrelated to the biopsy I had done today. Whew! I'm soooo glad I had WLS, otherwise I'd still be dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, GERD, and all that other junk that's now GONE!! in addition to these piddly little things I'm dealing with now. :D

Hi Nancy, I'll keep all of you in my prayers at this difficult time. I lost my MIL to colon cancer, and I have a good friend with stage IV breast cancer. If you need to talk, feel free. Big hugs, Irene

Wow Traci - I'm sorry to hear about those things. I've heard about the Boniva treatment in I think a monthly pill - maybe not for us WLS people? My bone destiny test showed that I could use more calcium, so I have made sure to double my dose. I hope you get good news with the mammogram results. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers - please keep in touch!! Hugs, Nancy

Thanks Mare - I'm still trying to process it. I can't wait to talk to the doctor so we have a better idea of things. My mom is 81 and of course I've always known this day was going to come, but I guess you can never really be prepared. We'll have to take it a day at a time...

Pam - First off, on getting the go to try for a baby. How exciting!!! Glad to hear your BIL continues to improve... OK, I gingerly stepped on the scale this morning expecting and prepared for 175...guess what? I was 170!! I got off and got on again and still 170! Whew. Maybe I will be in the 160's by Saturday! Had a rough day yesterday. I spent the majority of the day with my parents in the emergency room. Not condusive to good eating. By 3 PM I hadn't had anything all day and was feeling ill. They had egg salad sandwiches in the nutrition room so I had 1/2 of one. Later on I had some graham crackers. When I got home I had a yogurt before bed and that was it. I'm going to try and stick with the protein drinks and bars today - I'm home - will be meeting with doctors, etc. - at least I'll be prepared and bring some bars with me. Hang in there everyone and have a great day! Hugs, Nancy

Topic: Thoughts and Prayers needed...
My mom has not been well for the past year or so. First of all, she has ever-worsening dementia which makes life very hard for my dad, who is her sole caregiver (aside from what I can do to help). She has also had lots of gastro problems and tests galore that never gave any definitive answers. Yesterday she had terrible stomach pain, and uncontrollable diarrhea. My dad called me at work, very upset and I rushed over. We decided to call an ambulance because she was so weak she could hardly move her at all. Long story short, they did an abdominal CAT scan and the nurse practitioner pulled me down the hall and told me they found a mass - 99% sure it's cancer and it has spread already. I didn't want to tell my dad at the hospital, so I called my sister and she met us at his house. When I told him, he said he figured it had to be something like that - she's lost so much weight and is so weak and frail. We're waiting to talk to the doctors today and I think my dad and my sister are all on the same page as far as not putting her through any surgery....just making sure she's comfortable and has dignity. Please keep not only my mom, but my dad and my family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks. Hugs, Nancy
