Thank you everyone for your prayers. Shawna's surgery took less than 2 hours. They removed her drain yesterday just before she was discharged and the site is already closed and almost healed. She is doing great drinking her water, broth, and eating popsicles, and sugar free jello. We spent the day today at Turtle Bay here in Redding. Because she lives over 1 1/2 hours away she has to stay in Redding until her first follow-up visit on Monday. I am here with her. Her children have handled her surgery and her being in the hospital very well. I know she is at the beginning of a wonderful journey.

Hi Monna,
I'll keep Shawna in my prayers tomorrow for an uneventful surgery and a swift, pain-free recovery! Let us know how she does.

Topic: July's August Update
Nothing to report, really. After a weeklong camping vacation, I weigh 1 lb more than I did when I started Weigh****chers. On Monday, we're leaving for another week. I did come to realize that if I hadn't been "following" WW this summer, I would have gained ten pounds, not maintained. So I'm NOT beating myself up!
School starts on the 16th, and it's bittersweet. Yes, I'll be earning a paycheck working with kids I love, but I will have to meet all the new people that took over the teaching positions that I interviewed for. Hopefully it won't be too hard. I'm looking forward to getting back into my school routine, where I can't sit and stuff my face constantly, like I have this summer. One of my co-workers that I'm pretty close to is also on WW and hasn't done well this summer, either. We're planning to jump back in it together. Safety in numbers, right? I know that some of my trouble is coming from soda...I'm drinking 99% soda, 1% other. No****er. Not good. So I won't be taking soda to school.
Future updates during August will appear on this thread.
Cheers!

Hi Everyone,
Mydaughter is scheduled for WLS on August 6 at Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding, CA. I will be there with her, but I hope my WLS family will remember her in their prayers also. Her name is Shawna Elder.

Hey Nancy!
I have to agree, even with all the other garbage that has come my way in the past years, I can at leats be thankful for my surgery...well, and my hubby and kids! I feel much better since having my surgery and losing the weight. I hope to heck that I can keep it off!
I added an update to my website with photos that we took yesterday, we had a ball taking them. http://www.saturnus.com/pinalope/Journal.htm My hubby is doing great too, since his surgery in February..he has lost 136 pounds so far!
I will keep everyone up to snuff when it comes to my plastics. I'm anxious about getting this done, but I'm also really looking forward to it. I'm tired of looking pregnant!
Good for you, Nancy, on getting back into it all to get the weight back down. That's one of the hardest things to do. You keep it up!
Hugssssss
