DON"T GIVE UP!!! Why did they drop it? Is it just for you or your whole group? Did they have all your information? Or is it too old now? Sometimes after 90 days you will need to start process or part of process all over. What state are you in? If this insurance is through your employer go to the HR office or whoever handles your policy and find out why you weren't notified in advance of any changes being made to your contract. What ever you do if it was approved maybe they can retroactivwe it because they didn't let you know etc. FIGHT for it. Best of luck, Beth

Nancy, So nice to see your post. I don't get here as often as I should, and I had been missing you when I did drop by. Like you, and it appears several of the others, I have fallen prey to some bad habits. I've been have a snack every night at bedtime, not getting my protein and not drinking enough water. My daughter is going through the process and is required to go to 2 support group meetings before her surgeon will schedule her surgery. We went last night and it was so much better than the other group I attended about a year ago. Any way, I am giving up my bedtime snack and making a real effort to get my protein. I have not gained weight back, but at the rate I've been going the past month, it will soon appear if I don't correct myself. I went back to work in March, working as weekend RN supervisor at our local nursing home. There is always food, and I eat. I have to be really conscious of what I am putting in my mouth. I would really like to lose another 40 lbs and I believe I can if I use this wonderful tool. You have in there, my friend. Monna 389/195/159

You probably have coverage for the treatment of MORBID obesity. Many policies will exclude treatment for obesity. Only when it gets high enough to be MORBID obesity will they cover it. It's a numbers thing - something like 60% of Americans are overweight, while 7% are MORBIDLY obese. Check with your insurance company again. Ask if they cover "surgical treatment of morbid obesity" when it's determined to be medically necessary. Good luck - hope it works out for you. Irene

Hi, All, This is my first post on this board. I had the Mini Gastric Bypass on July 22, 2004. I have lost 217 pounds and am very happy with my results. However, one side-effect is giving me fits! I thought I'd ask those of you who are the same amount of time from surgery as I am. The problem is the TERRIBLE smelling gas! This has put a real damper on my social life. I've tried it all---Devrom, Beano, Phazyme, Charcoal tabs, and yogurt to name a few. I figure it would improve if I would be more diligent with my diet, but one article says to cut out carbs, another says to cut out fat, and others say to cut out some vegetables. Does ANYONE have advice about this? Thanks. Sandy

It is located on Alta Mesa about 1 block west of the intersection of McCart and Altamesa on the north side of the street. The meeting is open to all, so come on in for some support and plain ole' visitin'. When: Saturday, May 12th, 2007 Time: 9:30am till ? Where: Rise & Shine Café 3636 Altamesa Fort Worth, Tx. 76134 (817) 423-3555 Driving Directions: Exit I-20 at McCart. Go south and turn right at the intersection of Altamesa and McCart. Go about 1 block and the café will be on your right. Kathy

It's been a long time since I've been on this board. I've done well but have gained five pounds back. It is such a struggle to try to lose it again. I would prefer to lose 10 more pounds but I don't think it is going to happen. I went back to work after being retired for over three years. I have lost 192 pounds from my highest weight - oh, that should be five pounds less now - and currently weigh 134 pounds. I see you are from Ohio. My surgeon moved to Cincinnati so I will be flying up there for my visits now. In fact, I will be coming up the 31st of this month for a checkup on June 1. It will be my first trip to Ohio. Take care, Kathy

Hi Nancy Of course I remember you! Life is busy for everyone these days I guess. I'm struggling with my labs these days. I followed my surgeon's post-op supplementing advice and I gotta tell ya - my labs aren't so great and I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. I'm feeling bad these days and it's all a bit scary. I've rejoined some email groups and seeking help from longer term post-ops who know their stuff on supplements and am getting some help in getting me healthy again and determining what I need to be taking and how much I need to be taking. So everyone make sure you TAKE YOUR SUPPLEMENTS!! GET YOUR LABS DONE AND YOUR BONE SCANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's very important for us! DRINK YOUR PROTEIN SHAKES!!! Okay - now that I've reminded everyone what they need to do to stay healthy. I can get back to bed. I'm really not feeling so great these days, but hopefully will be again soon!!!! Pray for me!! Hey Dana! Thanks for the words of wisdom! I heard about a woman on the WLS Grads board that had a lap band put on her RNY stomach and it worked well for her. Check out the WLS Grad board. All the best!! Denise
