Hi Monna, thanks for replying, I guess I've been away too long.
My surgeon was wonderful, I highly recommend him. His name is Phillip Dahan, here is his contact info:

Topic: RE: Is anyone else struggling with a drinking problem?
I have found myself binge drinking on the weekends like I am in college or something. I have blackouts too and I find it terribly frustrating. Even though, I get drunk very quickly off very little wine/beer I find that I will continue to drink. Anyway, after a very painful hangover this past saturday, I am planning a non-drinking weekend coming up!
I plan to visit the website you mentioned.
Topic: Burning question!
Hey all...it has been forever since I have posted anything here...hope you all are doing well.
My question:
Do any of you drink the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shakes? They now have new packaging and apparently a new formula which adds 10 calories, 2 carbs, and 2g of protein. Well, I am trying to curb my crazy daytime snacking and thought it would be good to drink these again (10 am is a craving time for me!) so I got some and brought it to work. I am unsure if by changing the formula they just messed it all up or if I just got a bad batch. B/c it was absolutely disgusting...superthick and a *****unky. I used to like them so much...they were like a diet yoohoo or somthing. A good way to get in protein with very little calories...and very filling.
Anyway, if any of you have any input on this formula change, please let me know...I am really hoping that it was a bad batch b/c all the other protein shakes (ready to drink) are much higher in calories and carbs.
later!

Monna, my dear!! What an absolute success story you are!! How wonderful that your body has responded so positively to the surgery and how great that you took the risk and had the surgery - I'm sure it has saved your life!!!
As far as the job, maybe it's better to start in a nursing home type environment and get some recent experience on your resume...keep your eyes peeled and I'm sure the right thing will come along.
Love ya, and wishing you continued success all around!!
Hugs,
Nancy

Hi Denise!!! Hi Nancy!!!
I've been lurking more than anything as well. Trying to keep busy with work and stop procrastinating, like I'm doing now. I'm still hovering around 183, despite my hardwork and exercise. I gave up on the exercise about a month ago, but I have a buddy and she suggested a cycling class which we are supposed to do today. I have no motivation though. I worked out religiously from October through January and still I stay at 183...it could be worse though, so I don't want to complain.
Denise,
I'm so glad to know that things are going great on the dating front. Marriage is a wonderful thing. We have our struggles, but so far so good. Who know's the second time around may be a good thing. I wish you the best. Please keep us informed if you do decide to tie the knot, I want to see all the pictures, cause I know you'll be beautiful.
My sweetie and I are contemplating a trip to Niagara falls for our anniversary in July. Its absolutely, positively, so cheap. From Ohare, we could spend 3 days and 2 nights there for as low as 175 per person, including rental car and airfare.
July seems to be my month, lots of good things happen during that month for me.
Take Care,
Teah

Hello everyone,
Saw my pulmonologist Thursday. He said my health has turned around so much that he can't justify my disability status!!!! Yes, that is wonderfu, but that means I have to get a real job. All my lab tests say that my pulmonary status is very close to normal and I am no longer in heart failure. My cardiologist told me she has never seen anyone change his health so drastically in such a short time. BTW, I had to fight my pulmonologist to get him to clear me for WLS.
Since I have not practiced nursing in 4 1/2 years, many places will not hire me, but I do have an interview at the local nursing home tomorrow. That is not my first choice, but the public health department doesn't look too promising because of the lack of recent experience. It has been 20 years since I worked in a hospital and have no real desire to work in that setting. Please wish me luck.
Today, I cleaned house, moved furniture, cooked a good dinner without using any convenience foods, went shopping, and played with my granddaughter. I feel great!!!! Last week I cleaned out my closet and cedar chest. In the chest I found a blouse I bought 27 years ago in the Philippines and had never been able to wear--it fits!! Talked to my brother in Colorado last night and told him my weight and I weigh less than he does.
WLS has saved my life in so many ways. I am so thankful for all of you and the encouragement you have given me. I still have not reached my goal, but I am still losing, very slowly. I have lost 3 lbs. since the first of the year and foresee it continuing as now I have no weight limit on my exercising. I feel so free!!

Deejay,
So sorry about your back and joints. I can sympathize although my pain is in my hands, but like you nothing takes the pain away---just eases it a bit. Please know you are in my prayers.
On a selfish note--who did your plastics? I am not really interested in extensive surgery--after all, I am almost 62 years old. But I do have an umbilical hernia that needs to be repaired and I figure that while they in there a panniculectomy should be an easy addition. I live in Susanville, so have to go somewhere for surgery, just as well be the Reno area.

Hi Denise and everyone else,
Denise, I'm so glad you're happy and life is good for you - you deserve it!!!
I'm kind of lurking too. Still struggling to keep my weight in line and fighting the 'overeating' demons. I'm exercising more and I think that's helping. I'm really looking forward to the Spring so I can get out and walk - I've been using the treadmill and I'm not a big fan of that.
Anyhow, love you all and even though I'm not posting a lot, I'm here and thinking of you all!!
Hugs,
Nancy
