I agree with Tabby - Bonzai Burger and Red Robin was YUM pre surgery.
The Boy was craving Red Robin on Saturday..our first trip there post-surgery. There where plenty of healthier choices (chicken / fish etc) on the menu, but I got brave and ordered the Bonzai Burger. I removed the bun and used a knife and fork. It went down easily, but my stomach turned at the sight of all the grease on it. (usually the bun hides it all and you don't even know it's there). So I ate very little of it. But the few bites I had where VERY tasty!

Topic: RE: booze
I was never a big drinker to begin with. I would occasionally have a "girlie" drink while out with friends. I did enjoy a nice Schmirnoff Ice on the weekends, and, when I was sick, I would mix my Robotussin, with some vodka and cranberry juice (sounds funny, but I swear it worked better than Nyquil)
Post surgery I have consumed SOME alcohol..but...like the others, it certainly hits me MUCH faster.
On my honeymoon I would sip on 1/4 of a glass of champagne. We were in Bermuda which is famous for its Rum Swizzles. I ordered 1 and drank about 1/2 of it..gave the rest to The Boy. That made me feel a little "air headed" and loopy for about 1/2 an hour.
Since then I have only sipped on his Schmirnoff Ice's when he has them..just a few sips here and there. On a recent girls day this summer I had 1/2 a bay breeze and got, in my opinion, downright TOASTED. I had been thinking about leaving but ended up waiting about 3 more hours until I felt well and safe enough to drive.
Topic: RE: FIVE DAY POUCH TEST - DAY ONE!!!
Good Morning Tabby and all Octoberites!
I am going to join you on this test.
Yesterday morning, I weighted 165. I forgot to check this morning before I was completely dressed, shoes and all. I will post each day if I can remember to weigh, otherwise, I will post at the end of the week. (My scale is downstairs and I get dressed upstairs.)
So far today, I feel like every other day. I do not think I will have any carb withdrawl as I do not eat many carbs usually.
I always mix my protein with water. I have one in the morning on the way to work with my vitamins and 20 oz of water also. In the afternoon, I mix my chocolate shake in the magic bullet with 2 tsp of International coffee S/F Mocha and ice. This is my "Iced Coffe" break. At night, since it is cooler, I have been having my chocolate protein warm, sometimes with another 2 tsp of the International coffee, or some SF DaVinci syrup added. The key to "hot chocolate" protein is to mix up the powder with cold water in the mug to a paste, then add the hot-not boiling water (2 minutes in the microwave) to fill the mug. I will add a shake or two today for lunch and dinner. Water in between, maybe with some crystal light added.
I have not excersized yet today, but plan on some walking this afternoon.
I am doing this test to see if I can jump start some weight loss. I have been stuck in the same place for a long time, and even gained 4 pounds---my first gain since surgery.
Besides the protein shakes and water above, I have had 2 mugs of decaf chicory/french roast with 2% milk and Splenda.
I will get the things that I need for the next two stages when I visit Trader Joe's later today.
I am hoping that it won't be any harder than it was before, although now that I know I CAN eat, I may want to.
Good luck everyone!
Dawn

Topic: RE: time between food and drink?
I drink pretty much right up 'til I eat, then wait at least an hour after eating.
These are my suregeon's guidelines and he tells us to follow the "Pouch Rules for Dummies", which talks about "water loading" to keep you full so you don't eat as much.
