Today is M Y day!! Burn The Point is tonight. This is my D-Day! I have been waiting 11 months for this day and here it is. I said from the very start for everyone to just give me space to find myself , to do things that don't make sense and not argue with me ( IE waiting to go out etc..) and lose some weight.. That if I can just make it to this one point in time, Burn The Point Date ... well its just hard to explain but today is MY DAY! I have lost all I can lose to date and what I so weigh is simply amazing as I never thought I would get back down here. I haven't seen most of these people in over 7 years. Last time they saw me I was over 300lbs. I don't know how many will even remember me but you would have to know my husband lol. EVERYONE knows my husband. So they will all be coming over to say hi to him and for once I will be standing next to him with my head up and not trying to hide in to the concrete from embarrassment. I just CAN NOT wait to go. Its like everything starts today. Even if no one remembers me HAHAHA or says anything I just don't care. I made it to THIS DATE and made it to a weight I NEVER thought I would be again. I am a huge success and I feel GREAT about myself. My days if feeling like I have to hide in the house are officially over. My days of being embarrassed are OVER. I weighed in at 219 again this morning. That is still down 208lbs pounds over all and 159 lbs down from my 2 week Pre Op diet. ( Basically the start of it all ). I am wearing a size that I never thought I would wear again. The last jeans I bought 15 years ago were a size 38. Here I am 15 years later and finally back down to that size. I feel amazing. Both mentally and physically. My life R O C K S!! I wouldn't change a thing. I have nothing else planned for the weekend lol. Just get the stuff packed for our FIRST vacation in 6 years ( We leave on Thursday). Oh I have to go pick up party stuff for Joshua's birthday that is next Saturday ( WAAAA where did the time go! He is 7 already). But probably will be pretty quite. Dale is off a noon today to get ready for the Burn The Point so it will be a 3.5 day weekend for us. Oh and I have to get my monthly pictures taken tonight so I can get them posted on my blog. I hope everyone has a SUPER wonderful weekend!! *huggles* Felicia =0)

Good morning. Last evening was much better than the night before. I was home from work in record time (no traffic). I was so tired. Typically I follow the Rachael Ray philosophy on cooking...get it done in 30min or less. However, it is pretty labor intensive for those 30 min. Your standing and chopping and dropping etc. Last night I took a whole chicken...dumped it in a covered baker. I chopped zukes, carrots and onions around it. Sprinkled it all with some chicken stock, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning and thyme. Added one finely diced potato to the mix. Covered and dropped it in the oven. I then did laundry, worked on pulling together everything we need for the weekend and started packing. Even sat and read part of a magazine until voila..dinner was ready. (sure it took almost 2 hours - but they were relaxing hours). I served it with fresh corn on the cob (my treat for the day). After dinner I cut the remaining corn off the cob, added it to the baker. I took out the breast (we each had only eaten one leg/thigh combo)...and the remaining legs (yes..I'm not kidding..I bought the chicken in pieces at the farmers market....I put together a 4 legged chicken) with those I took the meat off the bone, cut it into tiny pieces and tossed it back in. I gave it a good stir and let it cool so that the fat settled on the top. I removed most of that. Added a little additional stock and placed it in a freezer container and popped it in the freezer for chicken corn soup next week. I skinned and cut the breast meat up and tossed it in a bag in the freezer for at least one other meal as well. Today, I too am at work...and yes..still working on this dang project. The good news is..I'm leaving at noon today - I took a 1/2 day vacation. We are driving up to NY - the Finger Lakes region for the weekend. Today we'll be driving mostly. Tomorrow is a birthday party up there for my great aunt (she is turning 80). Sunday we are planning on doing a little exploring and geocaching and then driving home on Monday. Tuesday - I'll be back...probably still working on this never ending spreadsheet project.

Topic: RE: How many carbs?
I don't count mine either, only because the things I do eat with carbs in it are things I eat all the time, so I already know what's in them. I know that chicken and fish don't have virtualy any carbs and also I eat green veggies (good carbs, very very low carbs). I guess to estimate, I'm probably doing under 50 grams a day. Around 1000-1200 calories. Something like that.

Good Morning October Board!!!! It is FRIDAY!!!!! Before a 3-day weekend!!!!!! I am, of course, at work. I will do my time today and go pick Riley (my 14 month old granddaughter) up to take home with me for the weekend. I just LOVE to have her out. She is SO much fun. We will stop by the house and pick up Olivia and try to make it out to David's football game in time to see him play. He is a freshman, so his game begins at 5:30 and it will take an additional 1-2 hour to get there from my house. Tomorrow, we will make sure that we have everything we need for the tie dye party on Sunday. We are also invited to a party tomorrow, so we may go there. Sunday, we will prepare for the party and have a blast with our neighbors and friends. Monday, we will rinse and wash our new creations for wearing back-to-school. Tuesday, I will be back here, slaving for the dime. What's up in your world? Dawn

Topic: RE: How many carbs?
I'm not a carb counter anymore. I was at the beginning, but I have been working on changing my focus to an overall healthy eating lifestyle whi*****ludes whole grains. I just don't like the taste of the WC Oatmeal. I've never been a fan of oatmeal in general. I will confess that my breakfast every day is 3/4 of a cup of Fiber One cereal w/ skim milk. I guess that is close to the same thing. I usually follow it with a high protein snack a few hours later and it keeps me truckin' all morning. Most other carbs that I eat are also whole grain. Crackers, bulgar wheat, whole grain pasta etc. It's featured more as a condiment on the plate (for me - my husband gets a larger portion) and only eaten w/ good lean protein and produce.

Topic: RE: Do you "diet"?
I certainly try not to "diet". I eat pretty much whatever I want. I am "allowed" anything that is under 10 g of sugar. This includes 1 whole turtle (chocolate candy). I had 1/2 of one last Christmas. It was good, but not that big of a deal. Before, I would have eaten 3-4 at least. A funny thing happened a while ago. My husband wanted to stop for ice cream. We stopped at a little place, me thinking that they would have some kind of sandwich meat or something else "healthy" that I could have. They didn't really have anything I wanted, so I chose to have a "kid's cup" of frozen yogurt. This serving was maybe 1/4 of a cup and I ate about 3/4s of the serving. Todd had this ice cream called "Heaps of Love" that was vanilla ice cream with fudge, cookie dough, oreos, peanut butter........all kinds of stuff in it. The next day, I looked up the nutritional info and his ice cream has LESS sugar per 1/4 cup serving that the frozen yogurt!!! The yogurt had over twice the sugar!!!!!!! I think I learned a lesson that day.....have what you really want and keep the portion small. If I would have had the ice cream, I would have had 3-4 bites and been done (way done) and would have consumed less sugar! I did Atkins for almost 2 years 5-6 years ago and got away from the "boxed" carbs and sugar. That has been my lifestyle ever since, so I have avoided processed carbs for a long time. For me, it has been hard to add the "good carbs" back in, as that diet made me think that ALL carbs are bad carbs. I have a heck of a time eating half a sandwich on whole grain bread without feeling guilty. I agree that it is portion control and exercise that will "git-r-done". My problem is that I do not often feel real hunger. I eat because I am supposed to eat at certain times. I worry that I do not have a small enough pouch, or stoma because I seem to have trouble STOPPING. I do not get much of a full feeling, and feel like I eat way more than most people I read about. This may just be a mental thing for me, because I still eat quite a bit less than I did "before", or maybe I just shouldn't compare myself to others. (But how else do you check your progress???) I guess I have rambled enough, but the answer is no.....I don't really "diet". Dawn

Topic: RE: Do you "diet"?
Good question Felicia, Since WLS my taste buds have changed drastically and some of the old foods don't even smell good anymore. Different textures bother me now. Possibly because I chew rather than inhale food? My pouch doesn't hold much so I have to concentrate on protein first. There is no room for much else, which never bothered me before. Heck, I ate long after I was full. I am kind of the food police I will admit. I know the big time trigger foods, such as chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and refuse to have that temptation in the house. We have healthy foods in the house but hubby can pig out on junk food downstairs in his office. I have noticed that he goes for the SF and FF foods more often these days too. It doesn't bother me to see others eat whatever, I just choose not to keep any triggers in the house. My choices are healthy and I don't feel as if I am dieting - just eating healthy choices now. It does help that our children are all adults. I'm not a total witch though. When the grands spend the week-end I always have their favorite bag of Oreos on hand. Interesting topic - Thank you. I definately do NOT diet. I just concentrate on making the healthiest choice for my body. I do follow portion sizes and also try to listen to my body to distinguish from head hunger and real hunger. I have made considerable changes in the way both my husband and I eat on an everday baisis however. It's also the good carb / low carb type thing. I concentrate on using fresh produce as the focus of each meal, with lean meat as protein and good, whole grain carbs, occasionally as more of a "condiment". Last night I pulled one potato out of the produce drawer and began chopping it up (to toss in with a chicken I was stewing as a thickener)..the boy got excited..."POTATOES!" he cried... I looked, held up the tiny potato and said..."no...POTATO..thats it." Guess you had to be there, but we both thought it was funny, he's getting used to having side dishes of cucumbers or squash..and the occasional bulgar wheat salad.
