Topic: RE: Other People gauging what you eat
My boss does this--I will be sitting down to lunch, eating tuna salad or chicken wings--high protein, low carb stuff, and he will say "Should you be eating that?" I usually will say either "This is exactly what I am SUPPOSED to be eating." (if it is) and "I can eat whatever I want now"' (if it is one of my occasional treats). But honestly, that is why I had the DS, so I won't ever have to diet again. If I want a treat I can have one.
My partner doesn't get on to me at all about what I eat--but she does frequently ask me if I have taken my Gas-X or my Flagyl (odors were a problem until I got this routine worked out--two Gas-X with every meal and 500 mg of Flagyl twice a week).

Topic: Other People gauging what you eat
I have noticed from other posts that I am not the only one to have people question how much or what I am eating.
How do you guys handle this?? Especially your Spouse. Jason has been extremely supportive, but he gets really volcal when he thinks I'm not eating enough or if he thinks I am eating too much or something he thinks is a no no.
I know he's only saying things because he cares and he's been with me every step of the way & doesn't want this to fail. But it does start to drive me nuts when I get a look whenever I put something in my mouth.
Any words of wisdom would be helpful.

Hi Diane; I know what you mean. Being stuck is depressing. My wife hid our scales; and will only let me weigh once a week. I have been bouncing for about a month and a half now. And this past weekend I finally dropped 2 lbs. Yes, this surgery is just an aide; and it is up to us to make the healthy choices.
I wrote down why I did the surgery in the first place and I take that note out and read it when I feel down. I also look at some of my old pics these help me make better food choices.
Hang in there. We are all here to listen and help each other on this journey called life and those of us who have had WLS have a special bond.

I thought I was stuck for about a month and a half but I was losing inches. My weight loss goes in stages, I will be the same weight for long periods of time but I am losing inches. Then I will lose 2-3 lbs. 2 lbs from the century club,
Janette

Hang in there Diane! I am the same way. I keep going back and forth with my weight. And the food choices are hard some time. It seems we all go through it! And it can be depressing, but what we have to do is look at where we started and realize that with the WLS the pounds aren't just going to melt away. It's just an aide for us. You will get there!

Which Six Flags? We went to Kings Island this past weekend. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to get on a ride and not worry about how you are going to fit in the seat. I've had it happen to me before at Six Flags St Louis. It's embarrassing! I had no embarrassments this time. I rode any ride that I wanted and had no concen. It's awesome! Let me know how your trip goes!!!

I am down 123 lbs. Stuck at 206 for weeks now....... I was PMSing and thought that might have been the problem but that is over a week ago now and I am bouncing around between 206 and 208. I see everyone else has been doing the same either gaining a few pounds or not losing any. I guess this is typical at this stage. I know I need to eat less and better foods... my choices haven't been the best lately. I am in a size 16 from a size 28. And the 16's are getting really loose, time to try 14's. Some words of encouragement from you all would be appreciated........ I think I am getting a little depressed.

Debbie,
You know the first thing I would say about this surgery is that I do not miss all the eating it is going out to dinner. I love to go out and eat. I have gone maybe five times or so to a sit down place since my surgery. One of them being my wedding dinner and eating only the mashed potatoes and baked fish. I felt like I was under a micro scope with the family watching me eat. I would love to go to Red Lobster or even Apple bees. When you eat a large salad how large. Like one cup or more? I usually can eat a cup with about 2 ounces of shrimp. That sounds like alot does it not? Your are doing great by the way!

My daughter is nicknamed food police. I try so hard. Do you feel when you get frusterated at your hubby you just want to snack and it makes you even more angry? I wish we had this remote we could just shut it off. Do you think they would mind if we drug them to our meeting? It just amazes me how when we are at home he acts different. Then when we are approached by someone with questions or who knows I had surgery he is all answers. He tells them oh what a good job and blah blah blha. You would have thought he had it and not me. Sometimes those pleasent words would sound better if they were just in our company. Good Luck!!

One stick of butter or margerine.
One cup ff skim milk
2 cups splenda or (sugar)
1 teaspoon vanilla
(you can add this if you want) 6 tablespoons cocoa
Bring those ingrediants to a rolling boil.
Remove from stove and add one cup peanut butter
3 cups of rolled oats
make into teaspoon cookies and let set on parchment paper to dry.
I freeze them. I make them with and without cocoa.
One as a snack is not that bad.
