Surgery date: 11/24/03 Starting weight: 253 Current weight: 182 total loss: 71 lbs Goal weight: 135 lbs the doc said a realistic goal is 150, but I know that my optimal weight is 135. I will be happier than hell to be 150. I have kicked up the protein too, because I have been on plateaus twice now for 5 weeks each I hate that

Surgery Date: 11/14/2003 Starting Weight: 313 lbs Current Weight: 203 lbs Total Loss: 110 lbs Goal Weight: 160 lbs My doc says he can see me down another 50 lbs by my 1 year appointment. I hope so! I need to remind myself of the protein and water rules and get my butt back to the gym. I know the weight loss will kick back up if I do all of that.

Hi, Just a thought, but do you have to have a drink? i attended 2 fourth of july parties one on the 2nd and 1 on the 4th and didn't drink at either of them even though everyone else was. and i didn't feel bad or out of place either. my friends & family know i had the surgery and are very supportive of it. they know i can't have sugar or alcohol so they had water and crystal light and even sugar free desserts for me!! it is ok to drink if you choose but please do not feel pressured to drink. i am not a party pooper i just thought you should know that this is an option as well. I have drunk small amounts of alcohol a few times--since I had a DS I don't have to worry about dumping--but one thing I noticed is that I lost all tolerance to alcohol! One drink gets me as buzzed as three or four used to--so be careful! Try wine--no carbonation and not too much sugar. Carolyn DS 11/03/03 317/196 (-121 and counting!)

Hi everyone, My friends want me to come over for a fourth of july party and have some drinks. I haven't had any alcohol since surgery or even loooong before surgery. I guess what I am wondering is, do any of you drink alcoholic beverages and if you do...could you give me some good examples of what to drink or any advice at all on this matter? I should mention that I really don't want to drink any soda or anything with alot of carbonation in it. I'm sure that doesn't leave me with a heck of alot of choices. Oh, and also nothing too sweet. I just can't think of anything. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Happy 4th of July and Happy 8 month Anniversary to me. It's good to see how everyone's doing. It helps put it all into perpective for me. Good to see I am in the "thick" of things! (no pun intended) I started at 268lbs on 11/04/2003 Today I am at 170 - 07/04/2004 I have lost 98 lbs. Two shy of the century mark! Sigh... It's been a journey! I am happy to see how far I have come. I started at size 26/28 and I am down to a size 16, (misses 16 thank you very much!) So happy happy joy joy. I will post pictures when I hit 100. Congrats everyone!!

Great job Gary. Keep us informed of the progress with the PS. I too am going to look into it. Inner thigh's and stomach is where I have all my loose sking. My doc says I need to wait till 18 months before I can get the PS. So just under a year to go. all the best. mark g.

Surgery Date 11/03/2003 Starting weight 306 lbs Current weight 183 lbs Total loss 123 lbs Goal weight 170 lbs I too am happy where I am at; but the doc says... I should be able to lose another 10 lbs before the one year mark. That would give me a 'normal' BMI going to the gym a few days a week; I should be able to make it. Great job everyone. It's nice to be a member of this "LOSING" family. hugs to all mark g.
