I'm happy but...I which I could get under the 200 and my goal is 151 (from the surgeon) the last 2 months I've only lost 5-6 lbs. I'm a little discouraged!!! I hope it picks up again soon. Somtimes I think its stopped. I'm trying to up the protein, water and exercise I'm just not loosing like others, I'm happy with the loss, just thought it would be more by now!!!

Topic: Im so blessed
Hi all. I had my surgery on Nov 25 (almost exactly 7 months ago) and have lost 92 pounds. Even if I never lose another pound I will be more content and happy to live life as a normal size person. I started at 262 being my highest and am now at 170. my butt now hurts if I sit too long. This is a new discovery to me. I wear a size 12 and some 10's. I hope to lose another 25 pounds but even if I dont I am happy with my weight loss. My bmi is 28. Hope every one else is as happy with their wl as I am. I am also in the process of adoption of my step son whom I have raised since he was three (he is now almost 6) Im so excited about this. It should be final sometime this summer. Court proceedings seem to be so slllooooowwwwwwwwww. Hope everyone else is feeling as blessed as I am right now. Jennifer

Topic: RE: Body Image UPDATE A DAY AT THE BEACH
Many of those people you are slamming may not realize what they look like in swim suit but some do and I say "GOOD FOR THEM!" Fat people have just as much right to get out there and have fun as anyone else. When I went back to graduate school I was so fat that I could not sit in the little desks (with seat attached). Every time I went into a new classroom I had to move an attached chair from the side of the room and then turn a desk around so I had could take notes. But I was paying my tuition and I had just as much right as anyone else to be there! It disturbs me to see fat prejudice even in the formerly morbidly obese. None of us ever wanted to be fat, or would be if we had a choice. Give fat people a break. Carolyn 317/207 and wearing shorts now--don't look if it bothers you!

Heather, according to my calculations you have lost 61% of your excess weight at 7 months out. That is great! You can't really compare yourself to people with higher starting weights or BMI's--of course they are going to lose more pounds, but probably not a higher percentage of excess weight. For example, I had my DS on 11/03/03, and I have lost 110 pounds....BUT, I have only lost 66% of my excess weight (I am 5'4" and started at 317 pre-op). So if you are comparing pounds lost, 110 versus 66 doesn't sound good, but when you compare apples to apples, it is 61% for you and 66% for me and that difference isn't significant. Just keep eating right and exercising and you will lose what you are supposed to lose. A successfull RNY journey would mean you would lose 75% of your excess weight at 18 months out, which would leave you weighing around 180 pounds. Good luck! Carolyn DS 11/03/03 317/207
