Hi Stacy, I think Mark and Robin hit the nail on the head. I can certainly eat more of some things than others. On the other hand, I have always drank something with my meals (it's an old habit that just wouldn't die). You do get full faster but I make sure I get enough protein in first. I've never waited a half hour or anything like that so for me it hasn't been a problem. I also make sure I save room for dessert only now I do it in moderation! I had my surgery on 11/5/03 and so far haven't had any complications (knock-on-wood) or dumping (I've never even thrown up) and I've lost 126 lbs. so whatever I'm doing has worked for me.
The biggest change in my life since the surgery is my exercise. I do it 90 min. to 2 hrs per day and I never had the stamina for that before. I eat regular foods in small portions, drink 72 ozs water per day (that's not a problem living in Nevada) and get in 60 - 90 grams of protein per day. I think your body will let you know what you can do as far as drinking while eat, etc.
Topic: RE: Almost There
It basically flushes out my system. I don't do it often (maybe 3x's since surgery 7 months ago). It doesn't have a negative effect on my loss unless I do it for more than 24 hours, which I don't do.
Today I am back to basics...protein, protein, protein and water!

Hi Renee
I don't know about an all water day. I don't want my body to think it's starving and go into starvation mode where it holds on to everything I eat. That is how I gained my weight. I have found out that dieting is bad for us, but eating right is the way to lose properly.
If the water thing works for you then have at it, but I am scared of falling into the same thing I did before surgery.

Topic: I am normal......
I reached a normal BMI finally. I can't even describe how happy I feel. I still see the fat me in the mirror. I still feel like I am the fat person or that others see me as that other person. But I KNOW I am different. I eat different, Sometime I cheat. Yes it is true but I don't overdue it. I started at 232 lbs 5'6". I am now 151 lbs I still want to get down to 140 lbs so I have 11 lbs to go. I will get there. For those of you struggling I will tell you it has been hard the last few months but when I get more food in I seem to lose more. But only when it is good food. Veggies and meat and a little fruit. All foods each day in moderation. If I get 1000-1200 calories in, I lose but if I go below that I maintain my weight. My body needs to feel satisfied so I have to eat more to lose still. Good Luck to everyone out there.

I agree. UP the H2O a lot!!!! Now that it's getting hotter you need to drink even more. Try for at least 72 or better.
I also agree with the carb thing. On the days you work out you will need more carbs. On the day's you don't work out you will need less. You just need to shake up your body.
Good Luck,
Robin W.
