Topic: RE: Gallstones anyone?
My doctor found gallstones when I was a little over 5 months out. He said my gall bladder is coming out. I am scheduled for surgery on the 7th of June. I have only had one major gall bladder attack and maybe a few twinges of pain here and there but I would much rather just get it out now and get it over with. no sense in allowing the pain to continue to keep happening. Good luck.

Topic: RE: How does our body know to stop???
Hi;
I read on www.gastricbypassfamily.com about pouch rules. it states that the new pouch will actually begin to grow to support the bodies needs. Here is the paragraph
" For ten years, I had patients eat until full with cottage cheese every three months, and report the amount of cottage cheese they were able to eat before feeling full. This gave me an idea of the size of their pouch at three month intervals. I found there was a regular growth in the amount of intake of every single pouch. The average date the pouch stopped growing was two years. After the second year, all pouches stopped growing. Most pouches ended at 6 oz., with some as large at 9-10 ozs."
We all know this is a tool to help us; and that we need to watch what we eat; and exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our bodies are smart little factories and they know when we need to eat more; eat less; eat something special.
I too have people telling me I need to gain weight; in fact one person said I'm beginning to "look like a gutted snow-bird".
After being overweight for so long I'm sure I look really thin; but I like it.
So my ramblings here. hang in there; your doing great; your body will tell you what you need.
hugs

I was told that when you get to your goal weight, that you are supposed to eat more carbs and increase you caloric intake.
When you eat carbs then you get hungry quicker and can eat more. Also you may try eating higher calorie foods like peanut butter or red meats.
Your body will get to a weight where it can be sustained by our calorie intake and then it will stop.
I can only eat four ounces at a time too, maybe not even that much.
How many calories are you eating each day? You should be eating about 1000 calories by now, but if not then don't worry, I cannot eat that much either.
Topic: New numbers at 7 months!
Just got weighed and measured at Curves--new official weight is 209
pounds--down 108 pounds! I have also lost--14 inches off my bust,
13.5 inches off my waist, 17 inches off my hips, 6 inches off my
thighs (that is 3 inches each thigh) and 5 inches off my upper arms!
In the last month alone (including that 2-week plateau) I lost 11
pounds and 2.2% of my body fat percentage, from 44.3% to 42.2%!
I am doing the happy dance! Dr. Smith, did you know I love you? I am
considering setting up a shrine to you in my house somewhere!
In other news, I have now weaned off my stomach pills. I have gone
from 7 pills a day pre-op (not counting vitamins and minerals) to
one pill a day.
My maternity shorts worked great for my exercise session today, too!
Life is good!

Topic: RE: Stuck???
Hello Renee
In my opinion, we are at goal when we feel healthier. Right now I can bend over and still breathe, my joints feel better and I feel better than I have in years.
That is why I said that if I do not lose another pound, that I will still be happy with my progress. I wouldn'y mind losing another twenty pounds, but if I dont I am still doing a world better than I was six months ago

Hi Kristi
What kind of things are you eating? Are you still taking your vitamins? Also, have you had your six month blood work?
You may need some extra vitamins. My energy level is still pretty good, but I can tell when it is time for a shot. My hubby will probably give me one today.
I find that when I eat too many carbs that my energy level drops. When I cut down on the carbs and eat mostly protein, my energy rises.
I would talk to your doc and see what he/she has to say about your energy.
I hope this helps a little.
