Topic: RE: Lack of motivation
Ladies,
Im much the same way. I did super good in the beginning and did my exercises and only indulged in a bite or two of "bad" stuff. Then I hit my second personal goal of losing 100lbs and everything is shot to (doggy doo). I cant seem to get the motivation to hit the gym and now Ive got a summer cold along with my toddler and cant go anyway. I do feel so much better about myself but I just dont have the umph to go. I am eating a little more then before but then Ive never been able to eat a "full" meal since the surgery. Ive always had trouble eating the amount I should. Now most the time I can or even a little more. I do get HUNGRY but a little fills fast. I do take my supplements and I keep my liquids going pretty good. I also found out recently that the scale I was using at the gym is way off so now I dont even have a scale to use to keep track. I dont know if I can wait another 3 months for my next doc visit lol. But, on the brighter side we are all doing fabulous and should be very proud of ourselves for taking such a huge step to improve our health.

Topic: 6 months Post-Op
I am 6 months and a day Post-Op and am down 62 pounds. I have a waist again and have gone from size 22W to 14 WP. My diabetic medication (Type II) has gone from 7 pills a day to 1 and my cholesterol level is the lowest it has been in 15 years. The doctor is happy with my progress and so am I. I'm 61 so I don't exercise as much as some of you younger people. I work full time and am again traveling. I now easily fit into the airline seat and no longer receive the "don't let the fat lady sit next to me" look. I have more confidence in myself and have gotten many compliments from people that I deal with in my work. I thank Dr. Trevidi for the fine work he did and the support he gives and I even have to thank my insurance company for paying the majority of the bill. I hope to get to my goal off 100 pounds off by 11/17/04!
Topic: RE: Lack of motivation
Some days I feel like I could eat a truck load of food. I have developed a bad habit of taking 6-8 oz's of food and eating it over a 1-2 hour time period. I did this today with some Thai string bean chicken that I ate over a 2 hour time frame.
I have lost 115 lbs and I to am stuck. I am at 199 with a goal of 150. I don't feel like I will ever get there. I know what I should do but I can't seem to do it. I still don't do sweets or much carbs but going to the kitchen all night long for "just one more bite" of chicken can not be good.
Hopefully I can get myself back on track.

Topic: RE: Lack of motivation
Wow you and I must have been seperated at birth, this is the first message I have ever posted and I would have typed yours almost word for word!! I had my surgery on November 24th and did extremely well the first few months. I have since lost 84lbs (originally I was 280). And am having the same problems that you are. It seems that I am more hungry now than I used to be, even though small amounts do fill me up faster. I have gained the CRAVING of sweets that was not a problem for the first few months, I guess the fear kept me from trying them, but since I have it's like I can't stop. They do make me a little sick to my stomach but not enough to sway my eating. I have also hit a platau in the past few weeks. There were two woman that had surgery the same day I did, at the same hospital and we all keep in touch, seems like they are also having the same problems. I just keep telling myself that I have come so far! I don't believe that I can ever go back to what I was before the surgery, physically or mentally. I am happy with the way I look and feel now, but I don't want to be stuck here. I am hoping with summer approaching that my activity will give me a jump start! If you need some support shoot me an email, we can work through the rough spots together!

Topic: RE: NOT A HAPPY CAMPER !!!
You said you "think" you are getting enough protein. I was on a 5 week plateau, so I went to www.fitday.com and tracked my food intake for 3 days. I was surprised to see that I was falling quite short on my protein intake. I also re-committed to drinking at least 80 oz of water a day. It totally booted me off my plateau. Hope it helps. Don't keep up, there is always an end to plateaus, unless we give up.

Topic: RE: 6 months out today!!!!!!!
Hi,
i just wanted to thank you for letting me know about the post op planner on this website. i knew about another one and the way i calculated it, i still had another 1/2 stubborn lb. to go before i became a "normal ideal " BMI but this one shows my calculations to be right on and as of this morning my BMI is "normal ideal" at 25
and also i got to see my progression that i didn't know about either and i am at 6 months where they predicted i would be at 11 months!
you have made me the happiest person in the world
i am so happy this morning
thanks again
Stacy
