Topic: RE: same weight for a month!
Hiya Lisa! I had my surgery on the same day as you and am down 75 pounds so far. I spent an entire month stuck at the same weight also then finally dropped another 5 this past week. The only advice I can offer is to hang in there and let it happen as it happens. Good luck and keep up the great job.

Topic: RE: Anyone taking Effexor ????? I'm relating to other post of anger, etc
Wendy,
I double checked with my dr and pharmacist--whom recommeds following my pcp's recomendation about opening the capsules. They said that it would be just as effective and so far so good. I have noticed the difference in my mood swings.
I do appreciate the information on this though.

Topic: What to eat? :help:
Hi everyone.
This is my first time posting to this board and I wanted to see what others that had their surgery around the same time I did are eating.
I have lost a total of 104 lbs. (29 b4 surgery and 75 since). I have spent the last 3 weeks stuck and am getting a little frustrated. I know one of my problems is water and exercise. I just don't do enough of either. I have gone from a size 24 to a lose 14 and I want to make it to 150 which should put me at about a size 8 (just a guess since I have never been smaller than a 14/16).
I eat 1/2 a protein bar for breakfast, 1/2 a small cup of low fat chicken chili for lunch and seafood or chicken for dinner with a little cooked veggie. Occasionally I may have some carb solution ice cream at night but only about 2-3 tablespoons 1-2x's a week (any more than that and I start to feel yucky). I do have an addiction to starbucks and have a non-fat triple latte with sugar free vanilla every weekday morning.
Does this sound about right? Should I be doing something different? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Melissa

Hey Renee -- I am there with ya.. I haven't lost a gosh darned thing in like 6 weeks.. UGH
Topic: RE: Plateaus suck, Part II
SUCK is an understatement!
Sigh. I have lost 85 lbs. And gone from size 24 to 16 (probably could squeeze into a 14 but am to chicken to try).
Yet for the last month I haven't lost...gained 2 lbs, finally lost those 2 lbs putting me back at 209 (85 gone) and 59 lbs from goal.
Its all about the water. I know it. I'm forcing myself to drink though I want to throw up after a few sips.

Hi Dee
I also just broke my plateau with a loss of 7 pounds in one week, but I got sick and wasn't hungry.
Congratulations on your wonderful loss.

Topic: RE: Anyone taking Effexor ????? I'm relating to other post of anger, etc
Jennifer,
I was on Effexor Extended relaease before my surgery but knew afterward I couldn't take capsuls. I asked the pharmacist if the capsuls could be opened and I wad told no..that it would not work that way. I had to switch to the regular Effexor. Regular effexor can be crushed and taken with no sugar added apple sauce. They taste nasty so I would cru**** and then pour it as far back on my tongue as I could then took a drink of water. Sometimes a crushed piece would float forward so to stop that I mixed it in a little tiny bit of no sugar added apple sauce and then put it on the back of my tongue and took a drink of water. Unfortunately since I can't take extended release anymore...I have to take it 3 times a day.
I have not noticed if it effects sex drive or not. I am a single parent and with no partner it seems outta site outta mind works for me.
Check with your Pharmacist....regular Effexor comes in many dosages. I am working now with my surgeon, nurse practitioner, and pharmacist to discuss how much of the medication may be malabsorbed to see if my dose should go u*****t.
Take Care,
Wendy T.

Dee! Yes, I agree..plateaus DO suck. I had a little one about 12 weeks out, finally broke and I dropped 7 lbs all at once. Now, I'm at the same weight for 2 weeks. Not a HUGE plateau, but still frustrating. I've been bad too..not getting in all my water and protein. BAD BAD BAD..I'm vowing to do better. Gonna try the "creamy food" thing, hope I can shrink the pouch! I'm down 87 lbs as of this morning.
Be Well!

Topic: RE: Diet Sodas?
Hey,
I have found the little cans of Diet Cherry Coke are just great. I have one a day and I am just a happy camper. As suggested by another post I also let some of the fuzz out and add some ice to dilute as it melts.
Yum.....
