Eileen...
My surgery was on Nov. 7th...AND I started out at 268 just like you did!!
I am now down to 208...so, you are a bit ahead of me in that area. I just got off of a 6 week plateau that was just about impossible to break! In the past 10-11 days i've lost another 11#. I'm hoping the next plateau won't come along for awhile again...boy, I thought it would never end. I'm now down from a size 24-26 to a 16-18 and loving it even though my pocketbook is killing me from having to buy new clothes!! I'm sticking to the basics clothes-wise and am lucky that I work in an office that we don't have to dress up.
Best wishes for your continuing success with your weight loss!!
Take care...
Linda
Topic: RE: Easy - Good protien shake recipe...
Hi, Sheri!!
Your recipe sounds great!! I'm one of those picky eaters (and drinkers) and came up with my own recipe for a morning shake that I would like to share with you and others. I never thought I would find a protein powder that I could tolerate....but, there is one called UNJURY that, I swear, you cannot taste at all no matter how you use it. My surgeon's office gave me some samples and I fell in love with it. I now order it online for delivery every month or so. Here is the shake recipe that I take to work with me every morning for breakfast. When I told my surgeon's office about it....they actually took down the recipe and use it themselves!! Let me know what you think. You can use other fruits...or try using a few drops of any food flavoring...instant coffee would work too!!
Linda's Breakfast (or anytime) Protein Shake
1 ripe banana (or strawberries or any fruit you like...bananas work best)
approx. 1 cup of 1% or skim or whatever milk you like
approx. 1 tablespoon of vanilla sugar free pudding mix (makes it thick)
1-3 pkgs of Equal (depends on the ripeness of the banana)
1/2 scoop of unflavored UNJURY protein powder
a few ice cubes
Mix all in a blender til ice is gone. I usually pour it into a freezer mug to keep it ice cold til I can drink it all.
Hope everyone that reads this enjoys!!! Let me know!!!

Stacy...
Hang in there!! I just hit my 5 month mark on 4/7 and had been on a 6WEEK plateau up until March 28th. Since then....i've lost 12# and was never so glad to see a scale move in my life. I've now lost a total of 60# since my surgery on Nov. 7th. I know what you mean about nothing helping....I was at my wit's end...for sure. I'm now down to 208#....with still some to go. Exercise is really important....I joined CURVES in Feb. and lost 14.5# the first month and 8" allover. I wish everyone the best on their continuing journey!! Take care and have a wonderful Easter weekend!!

Michelle,
Are you taking B-12 shots? That usually helps me. I am sorry that you are feeling dizzy and tired also, maybe it's just the stage of recovery we are in.

11/24/03 and down 105 pounds. That's 3995. Who's going to make it 4,000 plus?
Topic: RE: What Can I eat?
I know this is a little late I just found this board tonight, thought I would take a look around. I had my surgery 11/10/2003 and have lost 80 lbs so far. I like chili, and deli meats and cheeses. I eat alot of cheese and crackers, for a snack I will have 4 captains crackers and a piece of cheese. Good luck Janette

Wow, Mary that got my attention all right. Tha****er weight should come right off. Hope you feel better soon.

I too have an occasional dizzy spell--I work out at Curves and the "sitting sit-ups" machine has been making me dizzy lately. I know I am getting enough water I drink around 100 oz a day and my labs including iron are great. Not sure what this is.

Topic: I gained 18 lbs. in 4 days!!!
Knew that title line would get your attention! Hi everyone. I had my hernia repair on 4/1/04 and was in the hospital for four days and yes, I gained 18 pounds thanks to all the fluids that were pumped into my body! So far I have lost eleven pounds of tha****er weight but, boy, talk about major mental depression! Good thing is that everything was pushed back into place and the abdomen should look pretty good once the swelling goes down. I had some problems with low blood pressure and pulse rate but I guess I was pretty dehydrated. Hence, the fluids! Just wanted to check in with everybody and hope everybody is having a great week! Take care,
Mary
