Topic: great idea for slow losing...
I was inspired to see that I was not the only one who is having issues with plateaus as I was reading through the latest posts. I had my surgery in November also. So I decided to check back to some later surgery date message boards and inspire myself some more. If any of you are having issues with plateaus and would like to know for semi-certain that you are normal and the weight eventually DOES come off - go over the left and pick an earlier surgery date - like August 2003 or something and read some of their older posts from back when they were at 4-5 months post op - then keep reading their profiles and you'll see - the plateaus end and weight loss is inevitable! I had fun doing this - and I really feel inspired today by it. Good luck everyone!

Wow - I should have come back to this board sooner. I haven't lost anything in a while and quite frankly, I've been embarassed, so I didn't feel I had anything to add to the message boards, but I can really see I'm not alone. I'm going to take some of this advice here and try upping my protien - and also my water intake. I have also heard, (as someone else mentioned here) that it's good to break up your routine a little bit. maybe exercise in the morning if you normally do it at night and eat at different times, also change the foods you're eating every day. You know mix it up a bit. I've also been reading about adding lemon to the water and diluted cranberry juice. helps filter out the gunk in the liver - I'm going to try that too. I'll check back in a week and see how everyone is doing. Keep up the great work Lisa - you're doing great!!

HI I'm 19 weeks Post op (11/10/03) -62lbs and I'm gowing through the same thing. I think it is normal from what I have read. I have stopped taking a daily protein shake and wonder if this has slowed down my weight loss. Good luck. S. Baker...

hello! its oddly comforting to hear that people are losing as slow as i am, i know its not encouraging to say that, but to see peopel that are in your same situation lets u know that u are nto alone.
i had my surgery on november 4th and i have gone from 262.5 to about 205-206
man that under 200 mark is really taunting me. my doc said that his goal for me is 150, my personal is 130(i am 5'6"). i laugh when i say my personal goal weight cause i dont think that i will even make it to 150. but hey, i can dream, right?
i really do let the slow loss get to me a lotmore than i should, but hey, i remind myself that i had lost 55 or so pounds that wont ever come back. and i am still doing just over 10lbs a month, and if i can hopefully keep up that pace, i am not doing too bad
Topic: RE: Let's all add up how much we have lost.
My WLS was on 11/12/03 add my -75 lbs. and together we have lost 3,825 lbs! WOW!!!

I am an 11/17 gal too. I am down 74 lbs. Wish this weather would get nice so I can walk. I want to start walking outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. Which we have not seen much of lately here in PA.

Hi Lisa,
I had surgery the same day as you and I too am down 65lbs. I keep reading about how others up their calories to a minimum of 1200 and to change the kinds of food around and that seems to help. I am going to try it but I do have trouble getting over 1000 calories a day.
Good luck and please email me if you find anything else that works.
Caroline.

Hi Dianna
and welcome. Im a 11/25 girl too and have lost nearly 70 pounds. I started out at 262 and now am finally under 200. Funny you mentioned the picture thing. My husband took a few pics of me this morning and I still see myself as FAT. I mean, I know I still am overweight but I dont see myself any different than when I was at my highest weight. I dont see what everyone else does. I bought some shorts last weekend that were a size large (12/14). i couldnt beleive that I can wear this size. WOW!!! I still dont see what everyone else does though but rather still the MO woman pre op. I wanna loose about 40 more pounds myself but I wonder when the mental image is going to change.
Again, welcome and congrats on your weightloss.
Jennifer
