First of all thanks for the big welcome from one of my earlier posts!! Next of all, I now weigh 192# yipppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeee. i am down below 200. I NEVER thought Id see this day. This time last year I had no idea I would be having this surgery. so much has changed since then. Next bit of good news is my blood work came back good. Well, my uric acid level was elevated...not sure what that means ?? maybe need to drink more water? it doesnt sound real bad though. I still have food issues but I prolly always will. I will have to struggle with it all from time to time but hey thats life. I guess there is a price to pay with everything. If i ever think its not worth it I just look in the mirror at how different I am and it changes my mind. Also, In reply to the alcohol post. I used to on occasion love to drink a beer or two YES beer I havent had anything since surgery but they looked so good sitting in the fridge so cold. soooo, I had a few drinks of one and got tipsy realllllll fast. Ive never been a drinker but in a blue moon when I got in the mood its always budlight that i loved. well, now I guess I only need a few sips. that is way too funny. it only took about 2 before now 2 SIPS...hahahhaa. I hope everyone is having a great day. love and hugs jennifer -70

What helps me is eating more protein and then have the small amount of side di****ake with my meal a very high fiber choice--like salad, celery, spinach, etc. That way you stay full longer. Also helps with gas. Carolyn Moore DS 11/3/03 317/237

That has been my experience as well. I loved Margaritas now I can't even drink one without having to call for a ride home--so never mind for now. Maybe in a few more months.

Last night I finally decided to try it. I made myself a dirty vodka martini. After two sips I was feeling pretty good. After four sips, I think I was drunk. Then came the headache and them I poured the rest out and went to bed. I guess I really have become a cheap date I think I will skip the drink for now on. ((((HUGS)))) Dawn

lately, like the past week or so Ive found myself to be hungry or at least having the nibbles alot! like ever 2 hrs or so I feel like Im ready to eat again. could it be that Im not getting something in my diet so my body is craving it? I try really hard to ignore the constant hungries and if I dont at least eat something small and healthy but I must admit its bugging me some. Charlotte nov 26,2003 375/295/???

Great job. I know exactly what you mean. two weeks ago; I went on my first Boy Scout hike since my sugery. I was actually able to keep up with the kids; and didn't arrive at the destination an hour or two later. Good luck with your hernia repair. mark g.

Topic: RE: Plateau?
yep; plateaus happen. I was stuck around the 70lb mark for a couple of weeks; then I went crazy at the gym for a week; and doubled up the protein and started losing again. I personally believe the plateaus happen as a way for our bodies to re-adjust to less fat. mark g.

Topic: RE: Do you drink?
I too was a soda-holic before surgery. I would consume a 6-pack+ daily of some cola drink. I have tried a sip or two of soda since my surgery and it don't have the same taste. The best way to describe it; it taste's like gasoline. It sets my mouth on fire; and burns all the way down. Guess I am lucky that way. I know the soda was a big issue for my type 2 diabetes; and I hated taking the drugs for that and living with the side effects. So for me I drink water; ice cold water; and protein drinks. I've tried Crystal Lite; didn't care for the taste; I have tried; Kool-Aid with Splenda and that is o.k. But; mainly I stick with water. mark g.

i try and get here two or three times a week. it's a great help to see what others with the same new birthdate as me are going through; and how we are coping with the new life. it's a great pick me up when I feel down. mark g. 11/3/03 -102 lbs
