Topic: RE: Do you drink?
LOL! I thought we were going to discuss alcohol too! I miss my Bacardi and Cokes! I haven't tried any alcohol since a week before surgery. Just don't want to mess with the sugar. I'm afraid to try it and find out that I don't have a problem ingesting sugar. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!
I don't drink diet sodas or any sodas either for that matter. I used to drink a six pack a day BS. I have kind of cheated by having a Diet Pepsi Slurpee a couple of times but only because it doesn't have the carbonation. They're actually pretty good! They have ones made with Crystal Light too!
My mother, on the other hand, had her surgery in December and drinks Diet Coke. The only thing she did different was she switched to decaffinated Diet Coke.

Topic: RE: No one reads this msg board????
Hi! Well now you know that people actually do read this board. I check in about four times a week. This is a great board because the people all had surgery in the same month so we are all basically going through the same trial and errors, even if we are each an unique individual. The people that come here are nice. There isn't the bickering and sarcasm that is found on so many other boards.
Welcome aboard!
Topic: RE: Need some encouragement
I feel for you. There are days that I think I spent the whole day eating and then feel guilty. When I look back and add it all up it wasn't that much. If you're going to cheat try to cheat wisely. Try sugar-free candies, jello and cookies and cheese and crackers. Some dry cereals are actually good for you, just pick one that has the lowest net carbs and is not pre-sweetened!! Try to up your water and your protein and of course exercise as much as you can. That way even if you do slip a little you can make up for it in other ways! 71 pounds is a great loss! You're doing good. Remember, at least you're not eating the whole package of pretzels, cookies, etc. Take care and be good. I have faith in you!!
Topic: RE: Let's all add up how much we have lost.
I had my surgery on Nov. 4 -2003, and have lost 80 pounds
That brings our total to 3423

Well first of all 71 pounds is awesome, your doing really well. I have lost 80 and I too have cheated a few times. My suggestion is getting sugar free candy if your going to do it. I had the biggest sweet tooth before surgery and I thought I would really have a hard time dealing with it after, but I didn't until this last month, month and a half. My friends brought me some sugar free hersheys bars, minitures. And I treat myself to one a week or every two weeks, or I will have a sugar free sweet and low candy. I know that probably isn't good either but its better then regular sweets. Also you need to remember how much you used to eat before and you know your not doing that now, so give yourself some slack. Just keep up the good work and exercise and you will be fine.
Topic: RE: Plateau?
Gary, this is Brandy. I had my surgery on Nov.4-2003 and am down 80 pounds, I was at a plateau for 3 weeks, and i did increase my water and protein, protein is a very big key in your weightloss. I also, changed my exercise and stepped out of my routine and changed it. That all seemed to help because 3 days after my changes I dropped 5 pounds.

Gary, I was at -71 lbs for 3 weeks and couldn't seem to move. I read somewhere that plateaus happen to alot of people when they get around a 70 lb weightloss. Well the good news is that I got on the scale this morning and lost 4 lbs. So hang in there Gary. Your body is just adjusting.
Topic: Plateau?
Have been doing very well - down 79 pounds since 11-25 but have not lost any pounds or inches in almost 2 weeks. No complications or sickness. Have heard to increase water and protein. Has this helped anyone?
