Topic: RE: smoking??
I quit smoking two years and one month ago. Nine months before my surgery. I feel alot better since I did quit, but honestly not a day goes by when I don't think about having a cigarette. Especially in the past few months since I have found myself eating more I sometime think that if I substituted smoking instead of snacking I can get over that oral fixation and start losing my last twenty pounds. Of course, if I started exercising more and trying harder to make wiser food choices I might have a chance of dropping that twenty pounds too! lol
Bottom line is that smoking isn't healthy. Most enjoyable things aren't! I smoked for thirty years and finally decided that I really wanted to quit. When you are ready, you will too.
When I did quit, I used the patch, sucked on sugar-free candies, and chewed on toothpicks and cinnamon sticks.

I guess the most important thing is that you realize exactly WHAT you are doing and WHY. Secondly, don't beat yourself up about it -- because I did the same thing until last month I had to have a tumor removed from one of my breasts and there is a problem with the other. PLEASE, don't put yourself in my situation of having to wonder if you had only stopped smoking when you had the surgery, this really bad thing wouldn't be happening. Get whatever help you need and we're always here for you.

I cannot handle the sugar alcohols. My son's birthday was yesterday and I got myself a little sugar free mini cake from walmart. I thought I was going to die after the first four bites!!! I still feel icky!!!
BTW, I don't even try to eat sugar. It is bad stuff!!

With as hard as you have been working to regain your physical fitness, smoking oughta be one of those things you kick to the curb. I replaced the eating problem with walking or going to the gym [the scenery there can be quite entertaining.....].
I attempt to be careful in my grocery shopping so that "junk" is not readily accessible. Can't have old habits creeping in............
have a wonderful day!
