Topic: Just when everything is going good...
Hi All!
It's been awhile since I've been to the site. Life just seems to be getting in the way...lol. Do you ever have times when everything seems to be going your way, and then WHAM! it all changes? I'm going through one of those times now. I had nothing but good luck after my RNY. I went from 257 lbs wearing size 26/28 to 146 lbs wearing a size 10 on my 5'7" frame. That's all good! On November 14, 2004, I had my tummy tuck and breast life and am totally happy with that too. Then comes the whammy.
In February I had my RNY check up with my PA, who also happens to be my sister. A couple of weeks before, I had discovered a lump in my left breast. It's about the size of a golf ball cut in half. I just figured it was trauma or scar tissue from the surgery. I showed it to Sandy at my appointment, and she scared the crap out of me. She told me it was probably nothing serious, but I had to make an appointment to see my plastic surgeon "immediately". I told her I had an appointment with him in April, and she said I couldn't wait that long. She herself had a radical mastectomy a few years ago from breast cancer. So, six days later I was in his office. He too said it was probably scar tissue, but if it hasn't gotten any smaller by my April appointment, then he is going to do a biopsy, or just remove it. I do feel a little better about it, but it's still in the back of my mind. Especially since there is breast cancer in the family. At this point, it hasn't gotten any smaller. I'm not looking forward to my April appointment with my plastic surgeon.
So tell me, has anyone had a similar issue following their breast lift? My rational brain tells me everything is ok. But my emotional brain sometimes gets scared. I try not to dwell on it, but it's hard not to. I would appreciate some input.
Thanks
Shelley

Congratulations! It is truly a great feeling whenever you hit a "Weight Loss Moment". I really try not to get discouraged, especially when I KNOW that I am not following the rules! Happy exercising and the best of success!

My mother had RNY about 7 years ago. The first year she only lost 40 pounds, the next year she lost another 100+ pounds. Now it takes everything she has just to keep from losing.
Just goes to show you that everyone is different.

Its an amazing feeling I went to the gym for my regular workout and decided to check the scale and when I had to move that big weight over to 150 from 200 cause it was too much I screamed. I've been on before very discouraged about slow weight loss. I started out at 280 and had a RNY 11/04/03 I lost the most of my weight in the 1st 6 mos then I stalled the next 6 mos and tried everyones suggestions with no success. Now I eat when I'm hungry and drink constantly and continue exercise and I'm loosing again, Its very exciting, there is hope don't get discouraged if your a slow looser take it from experience.

Topic: RE: Calorie call pleaseeeeeeeee
I also had surgery in November 2003, I have managed to lose about 150 lbs. Unfortunately, I did this not following any diet plan for the first 10 months I ate anything that I wanted, just in a smaller serving amount than I ate pre-op. I have about 50 lbs to go to reach my goal.
I have been on a plateau for approximately 6 or so months, losing and gaining the same 4 lbs. So, I decided to follow a strict diet of 800 Calories or less, 30 Fat Grams, 40 Carbs, and try to get 70 Grams of Protein in a day. I finally broke my plateau doing this however it made me feel weak and gave me dizzy spells.
I don't know about you all but at first I didn't like any of the protein shakes so I was cramming in as much chicken in as possible to reach my protein goal each day to avoid them. Now that I am sick and tired of chicken I went to GNC and got some protein shakes to try. Surprisingly enough, I can tolerate the ones I tried.
So now, I am not being as strict on my diet. I am trying to get all of the protein in during the day by drinking a protein shake while at work (usually 300 - 400 calories) and then I eat whatever is served for dinner. I also started using an elliptical machine twice a day, I can't do much, but I know a little bit of activity is better than none. This is my first week trying this so I won't know until Sunday when I hit the scale to see if it is working or not.

One door closes and another door opens.
. I just quit my job of five years, because I am tired of being treated like sh#t!!! The feeling of confidence that we get after losing so much weight is a wonderful thing!!!
I have let my job walk all over me for too many years and finally had the balls to say I quit!!!!

I went through several stand stills. One really long one. I got so bummed out about it I started eating the wrong foods and put on 7 pounds!!! Yikes. LOL But I took it off within a week. So I am back to my stand still again.... but I know I will still lose more. I am past my own goal weight, but do still want to lose another 10 pounds or so. I am 5' 4" 151 pounds. Started at 329. So I am happy. I fit in a size 8 or 10 depends on the name brand.
