Topic: RE: a question regarding babies....
Hi My doctor has told us that we should wait till we are out 1 and 1/2 years till we try for a baby just to make sure that we are totally able to provide everything we have to give to a baby such as nutrients etc. our bodies need time to recover from all this and we have to make sure we our bodies can totally take care of ourselves "and" another life. that is why he told me to wait till i am a year and a half out. hope this helps stacy leary [email protected] 11/14/2003 262.5~126.0

Charlotte, I would suggest talking to your doctor. From what I've heard, it's not a problem. But it's always a good idea to find out what he/she would have to say. Good luck and I wish you the best. Merry Christmas! Shelley

Topic: 1 year labs
Hi, I just got the results from my one year labs and I am a bit concerned. Note that I am scheduled to see my surgeon for appt on January 6th, so I will follow- up with him. My white blood count is high, Both my AST and ALT are hight and my B12 is also high. I have been experienceing some discomfort around my belly button area and am wondering if I am forming or have formed a hernia. Has anyone experienced this. Just looking for some words of experience to settle my nerves for the next couple of weeks. Thanks

Topic: RE: feeling good
Hi Deborah, I feel great now too, eventhough I am 4 months pregnant. I dress up always do hair and makeup, and get tons of looks from men. I never got looks when I weighed about 300, but then again I was never holding my head up high then. Before when I had lost the weight about 6 years ago I had tons of confidence, then I met and married my hubby, got fat, had my son and got huge, had wls then lost about 100 lbs. I am not skinny but I carry the weight well. I got used to being invisible when I was so heavy and now men hold doors open and talk to me in line at the grocery store. The attention makes me feel great, and I think my renewed confidence and new body are keeping my husband on his toes, as he should be!!! I am bothered too by the people who don't understand, and unless you have walked in our shoes you never will. Thank you for your input, I totally hear you, we should just get used to the attention and be happy. Paula

People only treat us as well as we treat ourselves. No one can solve our problems and we cannot solve anyone else's. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. We are only responsible for our own happiness. Just some things I have learned in the last year. Mostly the hard way. My husband left me mostly because he felt he lost control when I lost weight. The more weight I began to lose the nastier he got. He is insecure. We are getting a divorce and to be totally honest, I have never been happier. Just my experience. Good Luck

I understand your situation completely. I was in a long term relationship before I had surgery. I took a long hard look at it, and decided that I needed to move on. Later on down the line a friend & fellow wls patient told me that at least 1/3 or more relationships fall apart after wls. The problem is the mate is intimidated. They see the new found confidence we have & jealousy moves in. My advice would be to step back & take a long hard look at the relationship that you are in. Is that they way you see yourself in 5 yrs. If not move on. You have come to far for someone to pull you down. A good piece of advise that my Grandmother gave me is that we can do bad by ourselves. Do not let anyone bring you down. Keep your head up and good luck.
