Congrats all !!!!!
It is my 1 year today also! AND it is my birthday today so I can definitely say I was reborn! Everyone thought I was crazy for having surgery on my birthday but it was the best gift I have ever been given. (THANKS Blue Cross).
I am down 119 lbs. I still have about 30 more to go, but I am finally patient for a change.
Again, CONGRATS, keep up the good work and stay strong. Enjoy and be blessed in your "new" life.

Congrats to you too WLS sister.
My surgeon really did not set a goal for me. I go to see him tomorrow. I am in a size 6 now so I really don't think I need to lose anymore. How about you?

Topic: A Year Later
What a Difference a Year Makes!
This time last year I was super-morbidly obese, weighing 317 pounds. I had diabetes for which I was taking four pills a day and still wasn't keeping in good control, risking a lifetime of complications up to and including kidney failure, blindness, and amputations. I couldn't bend over to pick up anything I dropped. I couldn't climb stairs without knee pain. I couldn't fit into restaurant booths, movie theatre bathrooms, or airplane seats. I wore a size 28/30 and had to mail-order virtually all of my clothes. I couldn't play floor games with my nieces or take my Brownie troop camping.
Then Dr. Dennis Smith took me to surgery and changed my life. My diabetes is gone and won't ever be back. I can walk up stairs without pain. I can buy clothes anywhere. I fit anyplace I want to go. I weigh 162 pounds, for a loss of 155 pounds. I have also lost 96.25 inches and now I wear a size 10/12. I can still eat normal foods in normal amounts, thanks to the magic of the DS. I can play floor games, swim, hike, and camp with my nieces and Brownies. I can do ANYTHING!
Happy Re-birthday to me! And thanks to all of you for your support and assistance during the last year!
