Topic: RE: I'm very discouraged
Belinda - I felt like it took forever to lose down the 74 lbs I have lost. But that is 3/4ths of the weight I need to lose!!! I need to lose another 35 lbs and I want it gone YESTERDAY.
The Doc said I was not eating enough at the last meeting. The body requires 1200 calories a day to be fuel efficient.
Relax! Have a yummy cup of vanilla Dannon carb control yogurt with some fresh berries in it and breathe deep! You will think you are having the most luscious Creme Brulee and you will have added 60 calories of nutrition!

don't be discouraged. we all lose at a different pace. Everyone's body adjusts to the surgery different. You can't compare yourself to others. Yes, look at the weight loss chart from the home page and remember the average is (I have heard) that you will lose 70% of the excess weight in a year. The surgery is just a tool to help us. Diet and exercise are critical to the success. Follow the eating plans from your doc. Seeing the doc is also important. I understand all too well, the loss of insurance; but follow up is important. The follow up blood work is also important. See if you can work out something for payment with your doc.
keep us informed.

Relax and take a deep breath......Try lowering your protein a little, my doc suggesed around 60 grams each day and then up your calories to about 1200 each day. I have heard that too much protien can slow your weight loss down. Also, you should talk to a nutritionist to see if maybe you are eating too much fat or just eating the wrong foods.
You also have to remember that losing 70 pounds in 9 months is nothing to shake a stick at.
My mother had RNY about 5 years ago and only lost 50 pounds the first year and then lost another 85 the next year. So far she hasn't neded plastic surgery for saggy skin because she lost so slow that her skin bounced back. I cannot say the same for myself.

Remember, everyone looses at a different pace. Do not get discouraged!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember loosing 1/4 pound a week going to Weigh****chers etc....
It would have taken a very long time to loose 80 pounds.
You will keep losing slowly or the body slows down on the loosing for a reason.
Mine has stopped and slowed down almost SLOW!!!!!!!!!!
I havn't lost in 2.5 weeks.
I am not concerned.
The body has to stop loosing sooner or later or we would die.
Do the chart on the main page and figure how much weight you should loose in one year. I am way ahead of the normal. at 8 months i have lsot 102 pounds, but i remind you everyone is on a different level. The bigger you start the faster you will loose, compared to someone that only needed to loose 75 pounds compared to someone who needs to loose 200.
Keep eating right and learning to eat the right things.

Hi Dawn,
It'll be 9 months for me this Friday (the 13th!!!). I've only lost 85lbs, so far. I know "ONLY", am i crazy, LOL. I've gone from a size 26 down to a 14/16. But my mind still thinks I'm a size 26. I'm getting there though.
I just feel soooo large still.
Anyway, Congrats to you. And all my fellow weight pals too!!!
Keep up the awesome work everyone.
