Flagyl kills the odor-causing bacteria in the gut (also the beneficial bacteria, I admit and I eat yogurt several times a week to replenish them). It has cut the foul odor associated with gas and stools to about 1/10th of what I was experiencing. It is both much more effective and a whole lot cheaper than either Devrom or super-acidophilis supplements, but a prescription is required. If you had a RNY rather than a DS you probably aren't having these problems anyway. Carolyn DS 11/03/03 317/189

Gee--I am not so sure this is good news--I mean, you have done great! But, my surgeon has lifetime follow-up visits (at no charge--follow-up care is included in surgical fees). We have one week, one month, three month, six month, 12 month, 18 month, and then annual visits with lab work each time beginning at three months. Is your PCP going to follow your labs?
