Dear Amy, Today is the end of my 5th month, and I usually eat 3 oz. of protein at dinner and 4 oz. of protein at lunch. Breakfast is usually a Power Crunch bar or a couple of eggs. I also weigh my food rather than measure it in a cup. I don't know that it is a problem to be increasing how much food you can eat. I still keep track of my calories too keep them under control, and I exercise, so as long as the loss continues and I feel good, I'm not too worried. If I eat too little, I actually slow down the loss and get really tired. I know that I have one more month of the "honeymoon" period and then I should expect a slow down. Knowing that helps me not panic. I'm with you in terms of developing good habits now in preparation for when it is more challenging later. I'm working on changing my attitude towards exercise (still not my favorite thing) and food (it is for nutrition, not emotions) as the head seems to be the most important element in continued success. It has been great to loose so quickly, but I know that is not going to continue. I have to be realistic about that. But even if it is slow and steady, it is still coming off. I am down 98.6 lbs. as of this morning. Sally

Hi Amy, Guess I'm not the only one. I will be 5 months out on the 17th (next Monday). I can eat a lot more than I could just 2 weeks ago. I find it to be quite frightening. I can eat 4 to 5 oz's. at a time depending on what it is. I can also drink my liquids now instead of just sipping them. Being able to eat, and drink like this makes me nervous. I don't like it at all. God bless you, Annette

I havent tried alcohol but I did have to take Nyquil the other night it hit me like a ton of bricks. My husband laughed at me and said oh look your drunk on Nyquil. Just so that you know. If you do drink the alcohol gets absorbed quicker into the bloodstream therefor giving bariatric patients a higher alcohol measure but we sober up in a few minutes as well.

As we all know everyones pouch is different. Many of us are coming up to the 6to9 month area where our pouch will relax and be able to consume more food. What amount of food is your meals or snacks? Lets get real about this. I worry that I might be eating to much at times. I can consume between 3 to 5 ounces of food depending on the food. My dinner usually consists of Chicken breast at portion size of 4 ounces. My lunch is usually turkey delu met sliced meadium with a .5 ounce of swiss cheese and I smear pesto on it and roll it up and eat that sometimes I can eat two which would be the 4 maybe 5 ounces for the meal. I am scared I am eating to much to early. A friend of mine that is 6 weeks younger in operation can eat 3/4 cup of food, so whay does everyone eat. I want to make sure I am having good eating habits now and not end up in the gaining arena after the honeymoon is over. Amy 304/231/185

Personally I snack on soy crisps, protein bar, meat and cheese rollups(turkey and swiss rolled together), Almonds, and string cheese with salsa. Thank you for everyone that has posted to this. It was so great to hear all the ideas everyone does.

I eat string cheese, Carb and Sugar Control Yogurt and Smoothies, cottage cheese w/tsp of sf jelly, fruit, carrot sticks and cucumbers, SF pudding and jello, deli turkey slices, almonds, and occasionally air popped popcorn. I don't usually do protein bars, they fill me up too fast and I don't like to eat bar leftovers. So far I have been fortunate that not too much bothers my pouch. Even strawberries which initially made me feel like I was going to dump are ok now. Good luck! Christine 257.5/200 (ONEderland tomorrow morning when I weigh, I HOPE!)

Hi Dee Dee, We are surgery twins. I started at 5'3 255.5 lbs and now weigh 187, so I am down 68.5 lbs. I think we are about on track with each other. I feel like I am losing slowly, but I am just happy that it is coming off! R. Sperry
