Topic: RE: alcohol
Well, I am sure I won;t get the most positive respones for this but I have been drinking since about 6-8 weeks out. I have no trouble with wine or straight alcohol. I just have to be careful with what I miz with, but I would do that with any beverage. Hope my info helped...

Again...I'm not the "perfect patient". Doctors have varing concepts on when we can have alcohol again and I'm not supposed to at this point out...but I've tried it. I went out with the girls twice and had a drink. Long Island...watered down. It really didn't do anything for me like it would have before WLS. I didn't get sick but it was like...ok why bother. I even tried it a second time to be sure LOL...same effect. Now I was worried about getting sick so I watered it down both times and that may have had something to do with it, but I'm not really a drinker anyway so it was no thrill. I've heard some people say they get drunk much quicker now and some say they can't get drunk at ALL. Weird huh? Whatever you decide remember this...another poster said that he stalled when he started to consume alcohol. STALL.....ARGGGG I don't want that so I really make sure it's limited. Be careful and let me know how it goes.

I can have very small amounts of sugar but I only really want something sweet during PMS time. I have only tried 2 french fries (in the way of fried foods) and they went down ok...but pouch gave me a "WARNING" so I didn't eat anything more than that. I have not dumped at all...but I get warnings every now and then to remind me not to eat something I shouldn't be eating. I'm not a "perfect" patient
but I know I do much better than before surgery. I'm just being honest to mayself and others...no flaming please from the "perfect WLS patients" LOL. I don't care what YOU think!

Topic: RE: Dumping
I haven't eaten anything that could cause me to dump. I'm SO scared to experience it. Someday I know I'll end up trying sugar, but for now, I have no plans to.
I haven't really tried any fatty foods. I guess I once did have a bite of fried chicken (small bite) but I'd eaten some string cheese and it was only one bite, so it didn't affect me.
Topic: RE: Time to check in how much have you lost?
I am also chiming in after the total loss has been tallied, but you can add my 95 pounds if you like.
Topic: RE: alcohol
Nichole;
I have. I had a few sips of a margarita at about 3 weeks out, a vodka and watered down cranberry at about 2 months out and a cosmopolitan at 4 months out.
So far, alcohol has no effect on me except it makes me sweat like crazy. I don't get tipsy, I don't feel drunk, I just sweat like a piggy! It sucks. Just in case, something kicks in and I do all of a sudden start to absorb alcohol, I don't drink if I'm in a situation where I would have to drive.
Be careful when you try it. Many people get pretty wasted off of one drink or less. You don't want to end up with alcohol poisoning.
Blessings,
Jennifer

Topic: RE: Slow Loss?
Hey, everyone's different. I can't believe your DR thinks that's SLOW! He would say I'm slow too I guess. I'm down 82 pounds since 11/16/2006 and I thougt I was doing very well. How much did you have to loose all together? I'm hoping to loose 143, so at this point being a little over halfway there is outstanding if you ask me. Don't worry, you're doing fine.
