I would never have even HEARD of the DS surgery if it had not been for DS'ers paying it forward on a bunch of other boards!

Hi friend!
There's oodles of us in AZ trying to get Back on Track or who need to turn ourselves completely around!  A bunch of us met a few weeks ago and we're all trying different approaches.  Some are attending Weigh****chers, some are getting back to their Surgeon's basics.  ...some are getting therapy.....some just needed a support group to rev them up....  It's a bummer that we still have some struggles even after we've had WLS....but, it's a tool and not a magic lifetime bullett!!!!  Surgeries malfunction....our hand & mouth routine malfunctions too!  We need to practice the art of lifetime health and not just the post-op losing honeymoon!

A support group here in the area is hosting a Super Saturday.  It's for everyone but much of the discussion that day will be geared to getting focused and either staying on track or getting back on track.  Here's the details.....maybe if you plan this far in advance, you can make the trek here?!

Hi Jena.
Hang in there.  Dr Pod is a awesome surgeon.  He is really focused on the surgery and after care.  I had surgery in Oct and haven't had any trouble with them.  Banner has been really busy lately trying to get Certified..  I would call Ileen (insurance person).  Her number is 543-2297 maybe this will help.

Hang in there Dr. P is totally worth it.  I had a little bit of the same frustration pre surgery waiting for insurance approval etc. but since surgery none.  I have had a few complications post surgery and have NOT had to wait to get help or to get an appointment to be seen.  Hang in there, Good Luck!

The second thread was started in 2007, and is still being added to.

By the way, if you look closely at the threads that devolve into Surgery War, you will see that the vast majority of the time, a DSer will post FACTUAL information (supported by peer-reviewed references) demonstating the superiority of the DS for most people, and someone with another surgery will get their knickers in a twist because they take that FACTUAL information to be a personal insult, and we're off and running.  But that doesn't matter to me, because these threads always get information about the DS to the attention of someone who needs to hear it.

If you are pre-op, I hope you will take a look at these threads and then do further research into the DS before you make your surgery choice.
That's some seriously GREAT reading!

Thanks Diana!

I can't wait to get my DS!
