Thinking of DS - Weird Question

In fairness to the OP, I wouldn't be at all surprised if a number of her misconceptions about living with DS came from her surgeon.

And that's all I can say about that issue that's even halfway nice, so I'll stop there.

Oh kind and sweet truckdriving mama and Jenna -

She notes that she has looked at DSfacts.com.
Now, even if her surgeon filled her head with nonsense, by doing a bit or research on DSFacts and finding this forumn, she has access to proper information.

Methinks she just wants rainbows and butterflies puffed up her butt, not the hard truth. She wants to engage in self-destructive behavior but seemingly take no accountability for her choices and the forseeable consequences.
Sorry, no rainbows or unicorns here . I'm not that *****y that I'd try to shove a horned horse sized animal up someones anus - not even my ex's! Plus think of the poor unicorn!

I hope she considers that no WLS will work if you don't work it. Perhaps the several suggestions that she seek therapy aren't wrong, either.

I also wonder if her returned hernia may be partially caused by her food choices and stretching her pouch out. (?)

OP please do your research and truly think about your choices, options, and motivations before making any type of surgical decision!

Kim

P.S. - It doens't look like her surgeon even does the DS. If he ain't an experienced DS surgeon, I'd run in the other direction as fast as I could before letting him cut on me again.
From her doctor's website: "Ultimately, the decision to have the procedure is entirely up to you. After having heard all the information, you must decide if the benefits outweigh the side effects and potential complications. This surgery is only a tool. Your ultimate success depends on strict adherence to the recommended dietary, exercise and lifestyle changes."

 Kim,

Not only does her surgeon not do the DS, he was (at last check) woefully misinformed about life with the DS.

I tangoed with him previously on this forum when he waltzed in dissing the DS and stating that we were all doomed to a life of poor health, osteoporosis, vitamin deficiencies and a host of other problems. Hence, my comment to Truckdriving Mama.

I'm frankly shocked that he even recommended it to this patient, given his previous attitudes about it.

That said, your point about access to DS facts, etc. is well made.

I so wish that would happen to me when I get angry.  I usually just end up making a fool of myself.

I need duct tape for my mouth and maybe finger-cuffs, LOL

DON'T GET A DS. JUST DON'T.

You don't want to make changes,  you don't want to comply with a program, you just want a free ride. For you, the DS would be suicide.

There is no magic cure for your issues. You will fail even with the DS if you eat that way. I don't mean to further burn you than others already have, but in my opinion, you are FUBAR.

Grow up!  Take responsibility!!  Follow the diet guidelines whichever surgery you have.  There's no magic wand to any surgery, you eat crap and you become fat.

Everyone has said "it" better than I could already.

I have one bit of knowledge to share as a fellow lover of slurpees.  You can't do it.  They are pure sugar and water.  You might as well have them while you're sitting on the toilet.  I had a small one, once, and I wanted to die from the cramps, diarrhea and overall discomfort it caused.  Just not worth it.  The DS is not without responsibility.  I don't know about you, but I don't EVER want to gain back this weight.  No amount of frozen sugar water will change my mind about that.

ETA: Oh, and if you don't use the room you have to give your body the nutrition it needs, you will die a slow, painful death of malnutrition.
