I had my surgery there...no problem... clean and efficient. Who is your surgeon? The only problem was the weekend nite shift nurses weren't the greatest...but then again that alone would not deter me and I wouldn't change  a thing

Good Luck

anything about Emory hospital if you had your surgery there? I posted about this in another forum because I didn't even think about coming here first. I'm looking to get the VSG and I would love to hear what others have to say about the surgeons and care in general.

I have Aetna Isurance as well and am having my surgery with Dr. Macik. I have a few questions about the process with Aetna and how much you had to pay out of pocket? Also, after approval, how long did it take you to get a surgery date?

I would contact Humana and ask if THEY cover WLS not if your plan does.  Typically it is the employer who opts out of covering things like WLS and not the provider.  Once you have that answer you could contact your HR or Benefits department and find out why they don't cover it and possibly submit an appeal, which may work if your company is self funded.

Topic: RE: Hi
Hi Pawmetto, it's nice to know that someone is from my neck of the woods. lol. I think Dr. Smith was one of the doctors on my list, but I'm thinking he doesn't take my insurance so I made a call down to Emory instead. I've been thinking about wls for years but for some reason I just didn't feel it was attainable since I didn't have insurance at the time. Another part of it was all of the negativity around me concerning the issue. This year I really started thinking about it seriously because I need to do something for me for once in my life. So here lately I've become obsessed with surgery. It seems like every time I have my mind set on a particular surgery, that will change after I read or talk to someone on the boards. My initial choice was lap band but then I read so many things against it and that it wasn't for people who had very high bmi's. So I chose the vsg since it would still give me restriction without some of the harsher side affects. I do know that all surgeries have their good and bad.

After chatting with Sassy, I'm keeping an open mind about DS. I still don't know a lot about it. The fact that my intestinal tract will be shifted around isn't very appealing to me but I need lasting results. I want to live a somewhat normal life if possible. But anyway, I did call Emory and the coordinator told me that I need to start my 6 mos. diet supervised by my doctor if I didn't want to make the trip down there every month. I'm thinking that I'd probably be better off going down there, but who wants to drive that far every a month? But again it may be worth it. See how undecided I am? Sorry for my rambling.

Topic: RE: Where is everyone?
I just wanted to say that just because I don't come here as often as I used to doesn't mean that I don't think about all of you.  I have a MAJORLY busy life these days.  I had baby #4 back at the end of September and he was 3 weeks early because of my blood pressure.  Having 4 kids keeps a person busy.  Keep in mind that was also right before the holidays and then having kids in school, being a room mom, and having one child that is preparing for middle school... well... I think you get the picture.  Anyway, I'm still here and one of these days would love to see everyone at lunch or something.  I just have been so busy.

Would I do it again?  IN A HEARTBEAT!!  Best gift I ever gave myself.
