Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
Hello, I am new to this journey and I've been searching for a doctor who accepts Wellcare. I found Dr. Khan. He use to be in the office with Dr. Williams I think. Anyway he's on his own now. Has anyone had surgery with him? Can you tell me something about him? I'm probably going to use him because he is, so far, the only surgeon that I have found.

Thanks for the response Nick,
I've been trying to be patient with my doc and gave her a chance to get up to speed but apparently she's less interested in educating herself, and more interested in her kickbacks for prescriptions. I don't have a support group yet, but when I can finally get in to see my nutritionist (@Emory on Clifton) I plan to get all the literature that points me in the right direction for the aftercare and support I've already pre-paid for.
Do you know if your doctor had any prior experience with WLS before your VSG? I'm RnY about 3 and a half months post-op. I would really like to see someone that has some prior experience?

Looked Fort Oglethorp up on Bing and it appears you may have better luck going to Chattanoga for a support group.

I use North Atlanta Family in Alpharetta. I see Jamie Morrison who is familiar with WLS.

I am not sure how close it is to you but the Support Group at Emory Johns Creek has been excellent for me for the past 18 months.

I am using Dr Richard Maxa in Duluth as my PCP and I have helped educate him on my VSG, but it was a struggle at first. Do you have a Support Group that you attend. The one at Emory Johns Creek has been great for me.
Topic: RE: Where is everyone?
Congratulations on your success! I am seeing Dr. Macik as well, and considering VSG. No surgery date yet. I'm nervous about having surgery, and the inevitable "rough spots" that I know I'll probably encounter (nausea, etc.) but I try to focus on the aftermath: losing weight so that I can play tennis and jog again! And I don't doubt that people treat you differently since your weight loss. I'm wondering if the same will happen to me, and my guess is, it will. I can't count the times I've been virtually ignored by salespeople and thought "Yes, if I wasn't overweight I bet the reaction would be WAY different!" I remind myself that what others think isn't important. It's how I feel, MY health, what I am able to do post-op that I couldn't do before.
And if I have to end my love affair with Chick-Fil-A biscuits, that's probably a good thing!

When and where? I'm interested in attending =) Is there a facebook link?
Topic: Help! I need a new PCP!
Preferably looking for someone with some familiarity with WLS, and someone near Gwinett. My current PCP keeps prescribing me nsaids, and horse pills, never listens to me, and is impossible to get a referral from.
So, who do you see? Are they at least well read on WLS? Any help would be greatly appreciated =)
