of Midwest Bariatric ? I am going to the seminar on the 25th and hope to proceed with the lap surgery soon after. Does anyone have any advice on finding a credible doctor ? What are the morality risks with the lap band surgery ?/ I have a wonderful husband and 4 small little girls I need to get running with, but don't want to die in the process. I have had many surgeries, including 4 c-sections and did fine, but for some reason, this surgery panics me. Any advice ?

Hi Susan - I can't help you out w/ your questions on the lap bad. I have very little knowldge since I chose GB but wanted to say welcome and congratulations on taking the first step to a healthier you. If your still in the market for a great Doc.. You may want to check out LifeWeigh Bariatrics in Downers Grove.. (I did not even look to see where abouts you were located) but anyway, My surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Rosen and his Team are wonderful. You can click the link on the bottom corner to go directly to his website. Several of the ladies on the IL board have been blessed to have him as their surgeon. Good Luck on your Journey. Christina

Hi and Welcome! Midwest Bariatric is where I will be having surgery with Dr. Gerald Cahill. I know people who have been his patients and the results are amazing. Nothing but good things have I heard about Dr. Cahill. I am pre-op and have completed all consults. The Director of the Bariatrics Program at Midwest is Tony (R.N.). He will guide you through the entire process. He conducts the seminar and also gives you the statistics concerning mortality rates. I have chosen to have GB, but Midwest also offers LapBand. Hope this helps. DeeDee

Hi Susan, I have not heard of them but I had my lap band at DayOne Center on Jan 11,2007.They have seminars in Tinley Park and Lemont but their office is in the City(well worth the trip).I, too, was scared to death about dying and leaving my 4 year old without a mommy(especially because I had gotten myself into this shape) I felt like it was incredibly selfish of me to take this risk(which actually is not that risky), but the pros outweighed (no pun intended) the cons.I decided that I would put my fate in Gods hands, He led me to this surgery and He will do want He wants with me.I was so worried that I wrote up a Will and had it in my purse the day of surgery.Talk about paranoid! After all was said and done, I realized that I had completely overreacted and it was not that big of a deal.I had never had surgery before so I was not sure of what to expect.Good luck with your decision, I have not regreted it for one minute. Patty
