I have been a member here since 2004 (thats what my profile says anyway, I just don't remember signing up before) I have decided to (finally) have WLS.  I have gotten a referal letter from my ins. company to see Dr. Rossi in Peoria, attended the first education class, and have gone to my first required support group meeting.  I meet with Dr. Rossi 7-13-07.  I asked the program coordinator for a rough estimate of how long I was looking at waiting before I had surgery, and she said 3 months with the insurance that I have, so I'm looking at a possible October date... I am getting SOOO excited.  Now that I have actually decided to do this (after debating for 4+ yrs) I just want to get it done.  Although from all the posts I've been reading, I am very forunate to only have to wait about 3 months!! I look forward to getting know everyone.  I will check in often

Cindy, great news on getting your referral letter. You are on your way to a healthier great new life as a PO. The time will go fast btwn now and your appointment and then the pending surgery. Now is the time to start educating yourself as to your life as a PO and to what the doctor will expect of you. It will also be a good idea to start taking your supplements to help get your body in top notch readiness for surgery. And then discuss with a medical professional the possiblity of doing some cardio exercise to help get your heart and lungs in shape for your surgery.  Christine

Hi Cindy Congradulations on your first step!  I will be excited to see how things progress for you!  Now that you have finally made a decision to go through with it, it just can't come soon enough!  I also waited about 4 years until I finally made that first appointment!  There will be a lot of support for you at this site.   I'm sure we'll be hearing from you!                                                                                                                                          Pam
